Wisconsin Stadium is trash and I wasn't that impressed with ND on my visit there. It was neat, but DV beats both of these imo. Rose Bowl isn't really a college team stadium regardless that UCLA plays there.
11 not really a bad ranking though
My top 5 not in an order:
MI, OSU, Clem, Bama, LSU

You are out of your mind if you think OSU is top 5 and above DV. OSU is complete trash and the atmosphere is weak.
The only excitement is when they get a group of people spell out a 4 letter word—2 of the letters are circles and 1 of them is a straight line— and then have a person stand on top of that straight line. Woo hoo.

I totally agree about OHST, that stadium is nothing special, sits on a whole block or two near downtown Columbus. AA obviously did not consider atmosphere when evaluating these stadiums.

It’s obvious we need to switch to a fox sports tv deal. I’m growing weary of their disrespect of the ACC and Clemson. Just let us go so we can be with someone else.

The part Adelson wrote explicitly about Clemson here seems remarkably respectful if not gleaming outright, to be fair.
It's kinda great.

Wish she had mentioned the lake glistening in the background from the upper deck. Given there was no criteria on how these stadiums were ranked, it appears more of an essay contest between her, Rittenberg, and Low.
With Adelson typically an ACC Beat Writer (apprentice of Heather Dumb-itch, but waay more knowledgeable of the game and less biased) she also did a great job of getting the Hokies up that high. I've been in that stadium multiple times for multiple Clemson games of high-value. Nothing special, could have been a Sandman putting me to sleep when they entered (they want $250 a seat for nose-bleeds this year, BTW).
I've been to a few others, and respect the heritage of some on the list even if their relevancy is now faded (Rose Bowl). Wisconsin is dumbfounding. Plan to visit LSU in '26 to see for myself. Until then I'm assuming it's the bourbon and corndog haze that gets people high on them.

UGA must be a real dump to be that low. No wonder they insisted on playing us at a neutral site.

A little surprised Wisconsin was ahead of us but for the most part the other 9 ahead of us make sense to me. I thought Florida at 20 should be higher.

Agree Wisconsin is over-rated by far here. "Jumping" appears to be part of the unofficial criteria of the ESPN ranking. I'm personally overlooking the slight to House of Pain...be it what it is, it's still an earworm and a clear part of my earlier cultural days, LOL.

Washington doesn't belong in the top 10. They're basing that on one good season with a phenom at QB. Now that the HC and Penix are now gone they will fall back into the realms of mediocrity

Washington is gorgeous and very cool atmosphere. It should be on the list for sure, especially since there are some really questionable appearances.
And for the upside-down #### Roach? Someone must like throwing batteries or whatever illicit street-drugs they huffed off an armadillo carcass rolling down 26 to that s-hole town.

There is no way Wisconsin and the Rose Bowl (not on campus stadium) should be above DV and probably not ND.

The problem with the list is the first thing they mention in the article is that there was no criteria given, so it's not a list of which stadiums are the most historical, most relevant, most rowdy, coolest, most unique...it's just a list of 'best' with whatever criteria each voter decided was important.
For that reason, I can understand the ranking but I don't give it much credence.

The part Adelson wrote explicitly about Death Valley in the linked article deserves some credence, though; it was a spectacular way to capture the buildup to the run down the hill, among other things.

It's a little frustrating when we're ranked 11th but the reporting is "outside the top-10," but I get it (& it's inescapably effective).
Still, I'm compelled to say I absolutely love the write-up for Death Valley & Clemson here by Adelson. They're spot-on with the traditions & how the buildup makes the most exciting 25 seconds in college football even more special.

know being a factor.
I think it reflects our competition and not us. We don't get as many glamour matchups as say the SEC or B1G. Our competition isn't as good as us for the most part so some of matchups don't have the luster in the media's minds.
We all know different, but we're all biased.

Jul 19, 2024, 10:18 AM

We built a Raising Canes restaurant in Clemson that was founded across the street from LSU's stadium (& the restaurant is owned by Coach Swinney).
I kinda hate it, to be honest, not the restaurant but that we sorta brought in LSU's thing to Clemson & now they have this weird, permanent claim to fame for it.
