FNC "moderation"

.
The analysis notes Fox moderators Chris Wallace, Megyn Kelly and Bret Baier spoke for 31 minutes and 53 seconds of the roughly two-hour broadcast, or 31.7% of the time.

Figures FNC would give Trump the most time (boost ratings) and Rand Paul the least (hate libertarian ideas).

It wasn't bad, but if maybe they moved to more of a game show format it would spice things up. They could also have physical competitions and throw in some puzzles for them to solve.

Didn't a lot of that extra time for Trump come from...

his responses / back-and-forth with other candidates and the response on the first question about 3rd party.
For the record, I thought the broadcast sucked last night. Not sure why they had to make it like a live talk show with the moderators joking around and that 2 minutes they had them all stand up there before it started was weird.

Why would any journalist not ask Trump that question?
Aug 7, 2015, 4:24 PM

It seems irresponsible not to. And why all the whining from people who like Trump? I thought he was supposed to be the tough guy who gave straight answers.
If you really wanted to explode the guy's candidacy, you'd ask him some tough policy questions. He'd have no idea what to say, or he'd say something else crazy sounding (like that the Mexican government is intentionally sending their criminals here).

Thru with Megan Kelly and Fox News. They now are as liberal as MSNBC. what a joke they tried to make out of Trump. the questions about women, when we are as close to war as we can get. this debate and the world times that we live in is not a laughing mater.

But seriously...how can you say that? Because you didn't like the debate questions (and there were a lot more on national security).

to be treated with kid gloves. I mean, the guy has spent the last couple decades being as brash and rude as possible, but now that he's running for office, let's be nice.
What makes me so angry is that these sorts of questions can trip-up the otherwise fine candidate Donald Trump. They may cause him to not get the Republican Nomination, which is really frustrating because if they wouldn't ask these questions, he'd get the nomination, and then the Democrats would be REALLY REALLY super-dooper-sensitive to him.

GOP establishment. They have had Karl Rove on retainer since Bush was President. Sean Hannity was the last guy on talk radio to understand the problem with the GOP leadership. And perhaps the first guy on Fox News. Hannity turned around 2013 when he was demoted at Fox from his 9pm slot. They HATE Trump...and it's backfiring on them.

Fox News will push whoever MSNBC says has the best chance of winning by attracting 4% more of the 14% Hispanic vote while alienating 70% of the republican base at 40% of the population. Karl Rove will get on and say what he always says. He's obviously in Jeb's corner. Hannity is doing good to stay employed there right now.
It wasn't a conspiracy more than Fox trying to come to grips with a huge shift in their base.

just to account for the total time, and to point out how networks want face time for their people too.
Seemed to me the moderators moved things along and didn't hog camera time, but I guess the in/out of commercials took time too.

well. During the actual debate, I don't remember thinking that there was too much time for the moderator to talk. It let them flesh out the context of the questions AND it gave the candidates a few more seconds to provide a response.
People are working overtime to vilify Fox News for absolutely nothing (except maybe a slight lack in production value last night) in my opinion.

Also, somehow the moderators are supposed to have had it out for Trump because... they asked him about some of the outlandish things he's said and done in the past, but they also are just trying to get ratings by letting him talk more.
All this complaining just comes off as sounding like people complaining about the refs causing them to lose a game that wasn't all that close. If your team likes to talk trash but actually sucks (Trump), or if your team has an unorthodox style that leaves is vulnerable to certain opponents (Paul), you're going to lose a few and it's not going to be anybody but your own teams' fault.
