the truth in the face of constant denials.
I have always believed in Dabo, his process and his vision. He has proved himself and produced tremendous results. That's what makes all of this so mind-boggling. It's downright bizarre, like a crazy dream or an acid trip gone wrong full of things you know good and well aren't real, but are mind-bending and terryfying all the same. Excpet . . . somehow this is real. I mean, it really is. My respect and admiration for Dabo just compounds the bizarre, unreal nature of all of this.
It was crystal clear in game 1 against LSU that something was bad wrong on a fundamental level. The claims of "just a few plays away", while maybe technically true, totally ignored major problems. Did Dabo really not see it or get it? Was he that out of touch, or was this just coach-speak by a sunshine-pumping coach who was trying not to discourage his team, and wanted to calm the fears of the fan base after a sub-par performance he felt could be corrected?
I think we have all had family or close friend issues where those we believed in and were fully committed to let us down. That genuine love, trust, and commitment can blind us to alot of things we should be addressing, and until we do, they just get worse and worse. So, while it's understandable, this isn't family or close friends, nor is it a private matter; it's a job for which Dabo is being paid millions. Unlike thos close personal relationships, there is a performance/results issue which is always of prime concern. And that's the problem.
In terms of performance/results, we have been absolutely terrible. Compared to the very reasonable expectations, based on recruiting, past production, money and resources available to the program, we are without a doubt, one of the worst teams in the country. We have played every game so far like it's a fall camp scrimmage. Every single team we have played, icluding a so-so Troy team that has a fraction of our resources and talent, has outplayed and out-coached us.
The problem isn't that we are just a few frustrating plays away (because we aren't); the problem is that (A) we have a coach who was either spewing BS when he said that, or (B) he is living in a bizarro dream world completely detached from reality. If it's (A), we have a chance to get things fixed. If it's (B), the solution is for Dabo to step back, take a long, hard look in the mirror, admit to himself his own role in this debacle, and hunker down with that fire and determination we all love about him, and set about fixing this mess by making needed changes.
Our team is lost, clueless, and uninspired. They are poorly coached and are routinely outplayed and physically whipped by lesser talented opponnents.
The solution is NOT to keep doing what you've been doing. THAT is THE PROBLEM. Change it.

Yep. If Dabo does not know what the problem is, then he is the problem.

“Poorly coached” hits it I believe where the issue is… we have enept position coaches that are not developing the players at all. I mean over the last 4-6 years name one guy that has continuously made jumps and gotten better. You could argue that more highly ranked guys have actually regressed in their time with our staff and that is a huge issue! Riley may be better than he’s getting credit for but I do believe he could have more creativity with the offense we aren’t good enough to just line up and run whatever we want but that’s where he should make his money … the offense needs a complete restart besides Matt Luke and possibly spiller. The defense imo is just slow and we don’t have the athletes there we are used to across the board and i think Allen will turn the defense around when he starts getting his guys in there !
