I am thinking since the ACC is a “BB Conference”, that a bunch of suits at corporate would ask for the respected coaches their opinions.

his overall conference winning percentage is substantially lower than his out of conference winning percentage. I remember when Nick Saban tried to get the HUNH offenses banned because he was struggling to win games against teams that ran it. That was a PR disaster. This just feels like CBB, who I typically defend, is trying to pick up a couple more Ws.

Nah I think he, like the Brownell Bros, is looking for a couple more quality losses instead of bad losses like last year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But I think he's right . . .

there might be a bit of frustration involved that he'd like more W's, but it also makes plenty of sense that a good conference like the ACC will only beat up on each other more and that it will hurt overall W/L records compared to other conferences only playing 18.

The perception is that the ACC isn't a good conference.

That's why we've only been getting 4 teams into the NCAAs recently and that's the projection this year, too.

The question is why is a "good" team losing to teams that have no chance of making the NCAAs?

No you guys. The narrative is that acc is weak. We don't play enough ooc to improve net and then In acc play, we just beat each other up and no one improves net. That is what he wants.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lucky break that he does better in OOC games I guess...

Good for him. Maybe if he's worried about the image of the ACC he shouldn't publicly criticize the league regarding scheduling and officiating. He's in a tough spot.

Brad wants to schedule a couple more cupcakes. Makes his record look better.

Reducing conference games is sad. Especially when the ACC is a fraction of what it used to be.
Another bad take by Brad.
Time to go.

I thought that was addressed with Scheff and Hall not being able to practice.

I agree with Coach Brownell on this.....

It's obvious that the ACC has taken a hit from a narrative perspective and that the conference is not getting as many bids as it has in the past. The media lovefest with the SEC has fully crossed over into basketball as well. The NET ranking does not favor the 20 game ACC schedule.
The ACC has usually shown itself to be behind the curve in football....it seems that may have happened in basketball as well.

Now, it's our own responsibility to win the games to get into the NCAA ourselves. And I hope we will finish the job on that this year. But it looks as if some other ACC teams who are probably good enough to be in will find themselves in the NIT or at home.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This sounds like an excuse

… and the excuse about not getting in the NCAA last year is TOTALLY irrelevant because we LOST our game in the NIT against another bad team that didn’t make the NCAA tournament!

Seems like a reasonable take.

If we are getting no credit for playing ACC games and are getting credit for playing nonconference games the smart thing to do is play more nonconference games and fewer conference games.

Brad needs to stop worrying about ACC policy and focus on winning the games that Clemson should be winning (such as Ga. Tech and NC State at home). This may not help the overall conference NET ratings, but would sure help our program gain respect on the national stage.

I don't like these comments. Because Clemson has losses in in the ACC, the last one being unacceptable, then Clemson needs more opponents outside the conference? That's a great ACC message, but it isn't good for Clemson Mens' Basketball.

Why does Brad Brownell have a job? Maybe, he goes to church with someone with veto authority. His record is atrocious.
