Great numbers. Curious what it compared to NFL rating at that time slot.

NFL games are usually higher rated than CFB games.
It speaks well of our game vs TX that so many viewers tuned and stayed tuned in.

NFL ratings significantly higher.
Saturday’s Steelers-Ravens NFL regular season game averaged 15.4 million viewers on FOX, marking the top Nielsen-measured audience of the day, and up from 14.3 million for Bengals-Steelers on NBC in the same window last year. NBC’s Texans-Chiefs lead-in averaged 15.5 million across Nielsen and Adobe Analytics, with a Nielsen-only figure not immediately available.
The games easily outpaced the competing College Football Playoff first round matchups on TNT, TBS and truTV, as Clemson-Texas drew 8.6 million and SMU-Penn State 6.4 million. Indeed, Steelers-Ravens outdrew even the primetime CFP games on ESPN and ABC that did not face NFL competition (14.3M for Tennessee-Ohio State and 13.4M for Indiana-Notre Dame). Texans-Chiefs may have as well, pending a Nielsen-only figure for that game.

Seeing how easy that Texass offense was running all over our D by anybody they gave the ball to was absolutely nauseating to look at, and I'm sure it was for 99% of Tiger nation also. That was something that Tiger nation has had to sit back and watch ever since BV left for Oklahoma and Dabo gifted that job to a totally unproven Wes Goodwin, just absolutely sickening!!!
Nobody has been as proud as I've been of the job that Dabo has done with our Tigers in the past, but I'll tell ya, he should be horse whipped for turning our defense over to an unproven Goodwin with absolutely NO coaching experience. That's right Horse whipped I say!!!

So fourth and goal couldn’t be done is also defense fault too? I can’t believe so many of y’all just jumping on Wes Goodwin and and our defense.. Texas offense had multiple QBs and big running backs. Maybe we can give them a credit some? The bottom line is defense is just fine. We don’t need to change around coaching all the time because everybody else does it. Quit whining..

This is why we have always said it’s about the matchups. Clemson brings that in spades.

What was so impressive??? It was the third rated game of the four games. Indiana and Tennessee ratings were 6 million more than our game. W e must learn to accept that we are not at the top of the heap. But we continue to pay our coaches like they are. $20 million dollars to coaches for a four loss season. Second most in the country. We are being ripped off!

I don’t think you understand the differences between prime time games or cable channels.
Both the Indiana/Notre Dame and Tenn/Ohio State games were in prime time and on ABC.
Clemson game was on TNT and at 4pm. Impressive numbers for that part of the day and it being on TNT.

Both Texas and Dabo are polarizing brands for different reasons.

Texas is the 2nd most populous state. Its state college is huge and has a lot of hype. Dabo has won championships and is open and honest and opinionated, sometimes to his detriment
It's 2024. People are drawn to controversy/controversial people/iconic programs.
When it comes down to it, lots of people want to see one or the other lose.

Despite lopsided double-digit victories across all four first-round College Football Playoff games, the debut of on-campus Playoff matchups averaged 10.6 million viewers, according to Nielsen ratings.
ESPN’s pair of primetime broadcasts this weekend easily drew more viewers than the two Saturday afternoon games on TNT Sports:
Ohio State 42, Tennessee 17: 14.3 million (8 p.m. Saturday, ESPN) Notre Dame 27, Indiana 17: 13.4 million (8 p.m. Friday, ESPN) Texas 38, Clemson 24: 8.6 million (noon Saturday, TNT Sports) Penn State 38, SMU 10: 6.4 million (4 p.m. Saturday, TNT Sports)
