Spectrum Backlash

10

Sep 4, 2023, 5:52 PM

How many of you have decided that, after setting up YouTube TV to get through the games this weekend, that you are going to drop Spectrum?

I for one have packed up all of the cable boxes and will be taking them back this week. Will still get my internet from them.

Go Tigers!!!

We went to Hulu last year when Spectrum kept raising their prices every few months. It's a little harder to flip between games with online TV, but given that college sports is about all I watch now, it was worth the savings.

In a few minutes, I will sign up for Hula plus. My days with Spectrum TV is limited. Go tigers.

My Prev CH button is the only thing I will miss. I can always take games on the road now as opposed to being required to watch at home.

Youtubetv has new thing that will allow to have 4 games on at one time and you can flip what sound you want.

You cannot pick and choose the 4 games

Sep 4, 2023, 6:58 PM

But they have multiple combos that can be selected.

While watching 4 games, you can select one and watch it full screen, hit the back button and it will take you back to the 4 games at once.

Could use some tweaking but a great addition that started with this past March Madness.

Picked up YouTubeTV so my wife could enjoy her Sunday ticket. Dropping ESPN solidified my already decision to cancel Spectrum. Between Prime, Hulu, and YouTubeTV I have zero use for cable tv anymore.

Dropped them several years back. Recommend YouTubeTV and ATT fiber.

I still have Spectrum for internet

Sep 4, 2023, 6:58 PM

How do you like AT&T? I’ve never had issues with Spectrum internet, and now that I work from home 100% I need really reliable service.

I also wfh and had spectrum Internet for over a decade with no issues. Got the bright idea to switch over to 1g fiber. Switched back to spectrum Internet 500m within a month and glad to be back.

Did it Saturday. I was just telling someone on here a few days ago how I thought it was worth the extra money for Spectrum. Then I couldn't watch FB. Went to YouTube TV.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

That’s exactly right. We will be paying for YouTube TV what we paid for cable in about 3 years. Slowly boiling the frog.

I heard the issue was that Spectrum was demanding their subscribers get ESPN+ and Disney+ for free. Not sure how true that is.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Of course if you had a Spectrum internet/TV bundle

1

Sep 4, 2023, 6:14 PM

and drop the TV part, they're gonna raise your internet price. But it'll still be cheaper with Spectrum internet and YouTube TV - $100+ plus $70+ as opposed to the $240+ a month I'm paying Spectrum. Got a trial sub for YouTube, thinking seriously about the switch. Just hope it doesn't buffer a lot; I have medium speed internet at about 100gbps.

I'm doing the same. It's both Spectrum and Disney's fault.

I've been with Spectrum/Charter for over 25 years, but cannot stomach their lack of responsibility in dealing with Disney/ESPN. I pay way too much for access to 200+ channels that I never watch, yet Spectrum let ESPN get away.
Looking forward to watching the Tigers beat Duke via YouTube TV tonight AND saving some money in the future by dropping the Spectrum TV plan. I plan to drop them totally and enlist with UpCountry Fiber for my internet.

I've had sling before but went w YouTube this time around. Sling isn't bad at all, but my recollection is it offered no local channels.

We signed up FUBO on Saturday, free trial. So far I like it. Has Bally so we can watch the Braves. We will most likely stick with it. Does not have CNN or TNT, but won't miss either of those too bad.
