Was this a throat slash or Superman gesture by Beasley?

Jan 5, 2014, 7:37 PM

Looks like Superman gesture to me.

Maybe the refs need to provide an instruction manual or video on what is or is not acceptable. They can start with Dwayne Allen's salute --- and list it as ACCEPTABLE.

it was a slash but he was mimicking the cheap tigernet steak knives so it was harmless. :)

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Where can I get a set of those steak knives?

Thumbs extended towards throat = throat slash.

Jan 5, 2014, 7:41 PM

A superman gesture has the thumbs pointing straight up.

I can't believe I'm having this conversation.

The fact that we have to ask

Jan 5, 2014, 7:47 PM

Is enough to know it was a bad idea on his part.

Just go to the sideline and you can do whatever you want.

Jan 5, 2014, 7:48 PM

Nobody's looking.

except for those sideline penalties ;-)***

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was only asking because a penalty was called.

Jan 5, 2014, 8:07 PM [ in reply to The fact that we have to ask ]

I thought it looked like a Superman gesture. That's what I saw on live TV AND that's what I see in this video.

That said, I think Clemson players should avoid all such gestures. I'm okay with being happy about making a good play, but just get off the field. AND after scoring TDs, we should simply had the football to the ref - that's what CJ did.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe it was a double handed

Jan 5, 2014, 7:42 PM

Chest slash! Those refs sucked hard. Throat slashing shouldn't be a penalty either

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Where is the line drawn?

Jan 5, 2014, 7:50 PM

Can you pull out your six shooters like Cactus Jack? What would Arn Anderson think of this non-sense.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What would Arn say?

Fingers closing to grab the shirt is a Superman move. Pretty obvious a bad call.

Whatever, wish he had not done it - gave OSU Momentum

Jan 5, 2014, 7:49 PM

and first td, otherwise game may not have been close!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

looks like neither to me

Jan 5, 2014, 8:00 PM

or a hybrid of both. Superman slash? Shouldn't be a penalty and definitely not taunting, which is what they called it, as he was heading towards Clemson sideline and nowhere near an OSU player.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bingo

Jan 5, 2014, 8:11 PM

Not like he was standing in front of the OSU bench. He wasn't even jumping around. These refs lost all degree of proportion. BS sideline calls at crucial times, roughing the passer by Shuey for rolling on him or whatever, and this possibly technically correct, but heavy handed penalty when no real taunting was taking place. That early in the game they should have talked to him and warned him.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

TO be fair to the refs, the rules committee hands them some

Jan 5, 2014, 8:07 PM

big warm turds sometimes.

It's a stupid rule, it cannot be enforced consistently b/c it's too subjective.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly ... games outcome should not hinge on

Jan 5, 2014, 8:19 PM

things like "gestures" ... especially when the intent is highly subjective.

Heck, if they must penalize gestures, have a 5 yard and a 15 yard version dependent on intent or what the officials judge as the intent.

They've done that for face mask and "halo rule", why not for celebratory gestures??

Superman.
Stupid call.
Remove all excitement...
everyone should behave like a zombie.
That would be SO exciting to watch.

Anyway, if he had been standing over
a player and done that, I would have
a major problem with it.
That wasn't the case.
