Just listened to the interview with his Dad on Mickey’s show. Read some disparaging remarks about his decision to transfer and about his grandfather. Wish people would consider - grandfather gave Clemson 3 decades of service on BOT and he was one of the best. Very knowledgeable as a farmer and businessman. He understood our status as a land grant university. His Dad served in military, making sacrifices as a father and husband to serve.
So family of service and Billy decides to try a different school. Can we just be grateful we had him for two seasons and wish him well. Why must we be hateful to kids - and particularly to this family?
Complete knowledge of our posters who get so worked up would be interesting. Suspect they all are super successful at their chosen field, take opportunity to serve others in the community and have friends who would die on the hill for them. Chuckle.

Chicken Bill Retires from the BOT 17

Bill Amick announced his retirement from the Clemson Board of Trustees and will be immediately replaced by Charlotte business leader Mark Richardson. This is the best news for Clemson Football in quite some time. You'll recall Amick was allegedly a driving force for the removal of Coach Ford many years ago and has allegedly been one of the Board members who have been rather obstructive in Clemson's quest to rise in athletics. Most of you should recognize the Richardson name--Mark is co-owner of the Panthers and is a prominent Charlotte businessman. Additionally, he graduated from Clemson in '83 and was a member of the National Championship team.

What would have been the agenda for this allegation to occur back then? In these situations, the truth tends to eke out and they caveat it with the preface of “allegation”.

You cant just up and say I am out after Bakich and company worked so hard to build him up. Dude crapped on our program.
And thats great for Billys dad for serving. Tons if people serve and I am thankful, but that has absolutely jack to do with fans essentially saying screw this guy

The players that left last year followed Monte. I just saw on WIS that the future of Kingston at USuC is not clear. They basically said what is next for Kingston if he left the coots. Don't know if Monte would be the next man up. I don't think Amick's situation is the same as the players that left last year. I believe he got his feelings hurt for maybe the first time in his life. Bakich got nowhere with him in their conversation so next man up.

Agreed Shirley, we on the outside don't know all the details. It could be simply his feeling got hurt or there could be a lot more to the story. Best wishes to him, I just hope he doesn't go to USuC.

I too served my country in the military, fought in one war, and spend another 17 years in the reserve. I am also suspect that I am as successful in my field as any of the Amicks were in theirs, not sure. I do not know them, so I am not judging. But I know on my fitness report and ones that I filled out for my men, there was one block that said "Loyalty". I took it very seriously. It did not matter how loyal the Marine Corps was to me, but I promised to be loyal to them, so I do question Billy's loyalty. Maybe he had good reason. Maybe we will find out.
