Big Dex and Wilkens

Aug 17, 2016, 9:38 AM

Hope we have some options where they line up in the backfield EITHER as a lead blocker OR toting the ball in goal line situations.

Why?

We already proved against alabama that we can punch it in down your throat with what we already have in place.

Why Not??

Because you dont risk injury on two of your best defensive players when your offense can do the job just fine. Thats why not.

True. Also, like you said, it isn't needed in any way.

The guys we have on O are probably even better at it anyway.

Injuries and fumbles.

Guys that aren't used to carrying the football tend to cough it up. Also, this isn't 2013 when the only way we could pick up a 3rd and 1 was to run Tajh Boyd.

If we were afraid of injuries and fumbles, why in the world did we use Wilkens on a 4th down pass play? Surely, we had better receivers than him. Just sayin

You don't think Stoops would have known something was up if he had seen Scott, Ray Ray, Hunter, or Trevion on punt team?

How about this...why didn't we let DeShaun or Kelly throw that fake punt? They are obviously better passers than Teasdall

That was a special teams fake, not an ordinary pass play. You run a defensive tackle out of the backfield in that situation as an element of surprise. You line up on the goal line with Dex or Christian, even people like you would know what was coming. The offense has worked just fine I think without putting defensive tackles in the game to do a job that somebody else is doing just fine and worked their butt off to do

Garrett Williams is a great lead blocker imo.*****

Garrett Williams seemed just fine against Alabama's touted LBs
