Big 12 Defense

Dec 17, 2015, 10:02 AM

Can NYE hurry up already? I don't think Mayfield will look like an all Big 12 QB against Clemson. I say his jersey stays dirty in this game. He'll get pressured more in this game against our Tigers, than he has all year. Obviously the guy is good and has the numbers to prove it, but have you looked at the defense he's played against? I checked a few NCAA stats and the highest ranked total defense in the Big 12 in Oklahoma at 31.

The best total defenses in the top 50 Oklahoma has played all year is Akron listed at number 17 (shocker) and Tennessee ranked at 46. Needless to say the Big 12 is all offense and zero defense. I like our chances in this one.

Hopefully our guys will show out, considering a lot of them are looking to increase their NFL draft stock...

He , like Deshaun is good at recognizing defensive sets , and who is applying the pressure . They both run well off of this ability to understand where the empty space is after the snap .
He will be a handful for the fron 6 , but I say Deshaun will be 2 handfuls .
We win by a full hand .

Two sides to every coin.

Oklahoma plays in a very offense-oriented conference. This could mean their offensive numbers are inflated. But it could also mean their defensive numbers are underrated.

For some reason it's telling me it doesn't exsist

Said this before, but total defense isn't a very good metric

to evaluate Big XII defenses. Try yards per play or some of the various defensive efficiency metrics as they help to adjust for tempo. OU faced about 12 more snaps per game than Clemson, and other Big XII defenses were probably similar.
