Heffernan, along with Khalil Greene were two pure hitters

Heffernan was too small in scouts' eyes probably to be a catcher and might have been one of those guys who just didn't translate into any other position skillwise. I think he hit leadoff as a catcher, almost unheard of. He had speed too. Talk about a guy who ripped liners all over the field. Shane Monahan was a great hitter too, but a bit of a headcase from what I heard from some folks that played with him in minors.

Bert Heffernan, who Coach Wilhelm referred to as the best player he ever coached. He is in the Clemson Hall of Fame. Denny Walling, who was the purest hitter I'd seen until Kalil Greene and now Seth Beer.

I always liked watching Reba pitch.
But can't argue with your selections other than i think Koch would be a good closer. Moskos was pretty darn good in that role too...

have to be there and Koch was lights out as closer. Koch was filthy with game on line. Billy Spiers has to be there too. Had maybe longest MLB career of them all other than Key and Walling.

he didn't become a reliever until he had arm problems in the minors.
Benson, Koch and Vining might be the best weekend rotation put together.

Those three were sick. Benson had the best pure curveball I have ever seen in a college pitcher. Too bad his arm acted up along with Koch, who was a free spirit wild child in the Show. Vining was a solid arm as well, who gave you all he had every outing. Koch was one of the nastiest competitors I have ever seen at Clemson in any sport. He wanted to crush folks.

was that was my first 2 years at Clemson. Everything about class is hazy, but I remember my football, baseball and basketball.
The Pirates were so desperate for arms that they burned up half of their prospects. They overthrew Benson and rushed him up. He was never the same.

Too early for Beer
Mar 25, 2016, 9:45 AM

well, its never really too early for Beer. I would put Tyler Colvin in there before Beer. SB has the POTENTIAL to be one of the best ever. But you can't anoint him after only 20 games.
I'd also think Billy Koch and Billy McMillon has a spot on that team as well.
