The only reason Tajh is on the list
Feb 6, 2017, 11:35 AM

is because of receivers like SW and NH who bailed him out of poorly thrown balls.

Since Artavis Scott just surpassed the clemson reception record, one could argue DW4 - AS, no?

Well it could be a HM, but 80% of his receptions were screens or Jet sweeps that counts as a catch. Again taking nothing away from Scott, he was big time for us, but that's how it was for the most part.

I hear what you're saying but he still has 900+ years as both a freshman and sophmore. Mike only had 316 as a freshman. And when you look at totals, Scott finished with 2480 yards over 3 years, Williams finished with 2727 yards over 2 years. The only reason scott didn't get as many touches this year, truthfully, was because of Williams' return. If we are talking straight clutch - Artavis Scott has to be in the conversation. He averaged roughly 82 receptions per year over 3 years whereas Mike averaged 59 per year. I think I'd take clutch & consisten over a big playmaker myself. Both great but Artavis deserves to be mention, that's all.

It was going to Williams.
Go back and look at the final drive, we threw it up to MW twice, both were unsuccessful due to the double team. Play caller realizes Alabama is keying on MW so they call the "crush" play. Perfect execution led to a perfect ending.

Only two passes to MW on the final drive.

One was down the sideline early in the drive when he was one-on-one and was successful. The other drew a PI in double coverage.
The first and goal pass was to Leggett.

Play of the game !!
Even In super slo-motion, it looks like that ball is about to rip is fingers off .....he had to whip his body 180 degrees and fully extend at the very last second !! It was only 2nd down though .... yea!? with :14 on the clock and the game on the line !!!
Gets me every time !!!

I love Renfrow, but Watson-Williams is the better combo. Watson-Renfrow is the clutchest combo tho, in my opinion.

I'm gonna say Tajh / Nuk in my fanspan, which goes back
Feb 6, 2017, 10:15 PM
|
|
to the '78 Gator Bowl when I found great joy in Clemson outscoring Ohio State and then the ensuing D horror, a child interloper amidst a Columbian neighbor and family of garnet and black revelers. Was it New Year's Eve? The sound running out of the room was nothing like I'd ever heard. And Danny Ford's first game. Something else.
Tajh and Nuk hooked up on game-winning plays in the biggest of moments, along with a season full of record setting TD catches and game changing moments that helped usher in the next level. We weren't quite #We2Deep just those few years ago in those areas, but that was legit playmaking in crunch time, things of beauty.
After them, I'd give 2nd to Watson and Renfrow. You can't ask for bigger moments than that combo delivered - when it counted, and when it was needed. Two losses over two years between them, with two league championships, two semi-final wins, and one Big One. Dang.
3rd? Maybe someone on the roster now, perhaps a new #1 even. In the interim though, I'll go Woody to Gardner. It was physical and productive, two playmakers going the distance, and racking up a lot of wins between them.
Boom.

Gardner got the deep balls, but it was Travis Zachery that was Woody's bread and butter WR.
