Kearse was one of the worst players on our team last year, agree other than his ranking.

Jayron Kearse? Did you watch us play? Sure, he made some frosh mistakes, but he had an outstanding freshman campaign.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I picked Kearse as one I look to step it up this year

Jun 25, 2014, 1:15 PM [ in reply to Re: Best Clemson current players 2014 season ranking ]

Honorable mention: Ryan Norton, Isaiah Battle and Tony Steward.

agree on Kearse last year and this year.. he was out of position last year and looked simply awful on some plays BUT he just might be huge surprise this year

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Serious talent, but has to be one of the toughest

Jun 25, 2014, 5:10 PM

positions to play/learn (other than QB obviously) transitioning into college. If you see the field as a freshman, you're a talent, period, dot!

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Look at the whole body of work by Kearse...

Jun 25, 2014, 11:59 PM [ in reply to Re: I picked Kearse as one I look to step it up this year ]

not just the plays he made mistakes on. He also made a lot of really good plays for a true freshman. Of course, for a lot of people on this board a few negative plays negate the positive plays which out number the negative plays.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Leaving Jordan Leggett off the list might be a mistake.

Jun 25, 2014, 1:36 PM

Tremendous potential waiting to be tapped.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Leggett could be our most dangerous weapon on offense..

Jun 25, 2014, 1:45 PM

Scott, Alexander, and Kearse shouldn't be on there. Scott and Alexander haven't seen any game time, and Scott isn't even listed as a starter. Jayron Kearse is still a good player and has as much potential as anyone on the team, but he just blew too many coverages last year. Personally I think Adam Humphries, Mike Williams, Isiah Battle, DJ Reader, Travis Blanks, Josh Watson, Robert Smith should all be listed before those 3.

Blanks??

Jun 25, 2014, 2:12 PM

dude takes the worst angles I've ever seen. He had more than his fair share of blown coverages as well.

Re: Blanks??

Jun 25, 2014, 2:17 PM

I based Blanks off of him being moved back to Nickle/SAM, which is where he played when he was a freshmen all-american. I do agree he did look out of place a safety though.

you might want to read what I wrote again

"Jayron Kearse is still a good player and has as much potential as anyone on the team, but he just blew too many coverages last year."

Just because I wouldn't put him in my top 10 doesn't mean he isn't a good player especially with the amount of talent we have.

you need to hone your reading comprehension skills....

Jun 26, 2014, 8:52 AM [ in reply to You two are both wrong, Blanks and Kearse are good players*** ]

Where did I say Blanks wasn't a "good" player?

I think both can be very good players, but last year it seemed Blanks made as many bad plays as good. Pretty Obvious safety wasn't a good fit....

So in Conclusion, based on his performance last year, the fact that he is coming off major knee surgery, and the MANY other talented guys on our team. I do not believe Blanks should be a part of the top 10. Hopefully, he proves me wrong.

this thread was meant to see who people think are going to be the great players next year not necessarily who had a great year last year. 3 years ago I had this conversation with Paul Streelaw and he told me watch out for Sammy Watkins. so I'm making a guess on a couple of guys house hoping somebody else might make guests on a few other guys like Adam Choice.

I definitely see where you are coming from and by week 5 Alexander could be a top 10 player on our team, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he was. Just in my opinion someone who has never played a down of college ball can't be ranked over proven seasoned veterans, at least in the preseason.

IMHO he is! I think Mike has all the potential

Jun 25, 2014, 5:31 PM

to be a first or second round draft pick. He's 6'4"+/-, ran faster than Sammy in the 40, and was high-pointing the ball very well at the end of last season. Example, his TD in the OB where he's behind the DB in the end zone, but two feet above him, snagging the ball out of the air.....Sammyesque if you will.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Williams is a 6'3" possession receiver

Jun 25, 2014, 11:09 PM

Definitely not faster than Watkins. The only real knock on him coming out of HS was his speed. However, I think he can be the kind of dominant guy that someone like Kevin Youngblood was on jump balls and balls over the middle.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He is better route runner than Kevin Youngblood***

Jun 26, 2014, 12:03 AM

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Williams didn't have a TD catch in the OB...

Jun 26, 2014, 12:03 AM [ in reply to IMHO he is! I think Mike has all the potential ]

You must be thinking of Bryant.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Cole Stoudt #6? (LOL)

Jun 25, 2014, 3:54 PM

NFL POTENTIAL**

Not sure how you're gauging them. But based on
present day.

#1-Vic Beasley
#2-Stephone Anthony
#3-Grady Jerrett
#4-Corey Crawford
#5-Jayron Kearse
#6-Ryan Norton
#7-Charone Peake
#8-David Beasley
#9-DJ Reader
#10-Isaigh Battle

upside, ya gotta put Watson #1
#21

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was going for most important in upcoming season

Jun 26, 2014, 8:07 AM

If Stoudt isn't a leader and a force, we're looking at a 9-3 or 8-4 season.

I admit Scott is a huge stretch, but that's the whole point of projecting this kind of stuff in Effing June. :)

Mike Williams should be the top offensive player.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wouldn't put so many freshmen in there

Jun 25, 2014, 11:13 PM

1. Vic
2. Stephone Anthony
3. Charone Peake
4. Grady Jarrett
5. Corey Crawford
6. Isaiah Battle
7. Tavares Barnes
8. Josh Watson
9. Mike Williams
10. Zac Brooks

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How is Scott going to be in the top 10...

Jun 25, 2014, 11:56 PM

when you have no clue how much he will play this season or if he will be redshirted. Why would leave off Mike Williams who we know will be playing and has shown he has the ability to be a good receiver?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Guy is clueless who started this ha.
