They made a pretty mean Bloody Mary back in the day too.

Although it would be fairly pedestrian based on some of those I see being offered today. It was a cocktail back then and not a meal.

Not a big fan of the meal version of the Bloody. Just give me the drink.

It's interesting to see what restaurants are churning out, and I certainly wouldn't turn away a free one but I typically don't like a Bloody Mary with food to begin with. I'd rather have a beer with the foods they typically stuff into one. On the flip side, I really like a Michelada with food.

Page's Okra Grill used to have one that looked like a lunch buffet.

I've only been there once in about the last 8 years, but they used to have a bloody Mary bar that had chicken wings. Yes..if you could put chicken wings on a skewer...it was part of your Bloody Mary.

Looks like they have pared that back a bit (from their menu):

"Vodka and homemade bloody mary mix. Served with pickled okra, lemon, olive, celery and strip of bacon"

Bacon? In a Bloody Mary?

Go look at the Blind Pelican (Holly Springs, NC) website.

Some of these are utterly ridiculous but interesting to look at nonetheless. You can't even get to the drink without eating the 'meal' first.

That's what Page's bloody Mary looked like as well. I spent more on the bloody mary than I did the meal. I think I ate more, too.

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Back in the day we were poor and did not know it.

But we were happy and found enjoyment in simple things.

Now with our wealth, we think we know it all. But enjoyment seems more evasive as we complain about most everything.

Albeit the more expensive bourbon and wine are undoubtedly better and stimulate flashbacks to fond memories.
