Cade and the home run ball

Why is it so hard for the coaches to get Cade to realize you don’t need a first down or touchdown every play? He seems so wary to throw a check down or short route. And unwilling to just throw it away when nothings there, instead throwing in triple coverage.

Pearman was willing to take the 6 yard slants and get the ball out quick. Quick decisions. Cade looked better in the second half of the spring game but I’m just unsure how this is such a difficult philosophy for him to get?

And doesn’t know how to step up into the pocket

Hard to check down when you are dancing around and scrambling out of the pocket at the slightest touch of pressure

Easy to say, hard to do…

He’s still mentally treating college game like it’s HS defenses and hero ball will still work. It’s frustrating that two QB coaches have been unable to coach that out of him. TL16 had the arm talent to throw into tight windows and get away with it. DW4 threw more INTs than he should have trying to do more than what was available, but he brought so many other talents that it rarely hurt the team.

From what I've read Cade has

thrown for less yards per attempt and less yards per catch in his career than most QB's in the ACC and most in the country. No blocking, no WR preparation and Clemson's conservative play calling has not been good to Cade.

Garrett, Dabo and Cade need to have a heart-to-heart and figure out what works for Cade. Unless Dabo or Garrett are going to play QB, or start Pearman, it all runs through Cade.
