being "seen" at the right camps, etc, as it is about ability. I'll trust our coaching staff to recruit to our needs, and not to an ever changing arbitrary outside bunch of noise.

True to some extent, but typically the higher rated recruit has done better than not. Don't say you have to be a 5 star, but the high 4s usually pan out. Not many 5 stars per year.
But to clemchem post, did clemchem mean to say we're not offering the top rated guys? If so, we're not. We recruited against the big boys last decade, not so much this decade. We've done ok at QB's. But overall, we're recruiting against the second tier teams.

Several of our offers will get a 5 star during next season. This is still early in the evaluation process for this class.

I posted 5 years ago NIL would be the biggest change in college football that could have a negative affect on recruiting and wins & loses.
During the 20 teens 5 star kids were hoping for a Clemson offer. Now it’s all about the Money!
Dabo and Clemson’s culture have not changed that much. They are having to compete against the schools with lots of $$$$$$$$ !
It the same in pro sports the teams they pay their players the most money win most of their games and play for championships.
It’s not Rocket Science it’s financial science and moms, dads and players under the financial science and that most what they now focus on.
Unless Clemson can increase revenues it will be hard to get the 5 stars and consistently compete for a NC.
Remember when SMU paid their players? They win a lot of games and had talented players. They have 3 NC’s claimed by SMU in 1935,1981,and 1982.They claim 12 conference titles. But for a fairly small school the boosters kicked in money so top players earned $40 plus thousand dollars. They were dumb enough to keep a ledger.
I feel the future of pay for play football will be controlled by the big money schools. This is why I think Dabo could step down next if Clemson wins the 2025 NC. Why put up with all of the enabled players and their families.

We pay well, however, we focus our money on retaining our best players as opposed to the crapshoot that is the portal. The portal hasn’t elevated anyone.

They haven't given out all the 5-star billings in the 2026 class. There's five 5-stars on 247 Sports, they usually have 32 by seasons end and somewhere between 25-35 5-stars in their Composite ranking. Guys will move up and move down, but we've offered #7, 8, 24, 31, 34, 37, 38, 40 in their current Composite rankings.

Always amazing how an under the radar 3 star moves to a 4 star or higher once Clemson offers or they commit to Clemson. As posted by some of the others, those ratings mean nothing.
