Remember when Starlink satellites were destroyed by a solar storm?

And the internet outages last December? Also Solar storm.

We worse is headed this way this weekend. I suggest preparation akin to a hurricane.

Well, good thing my HVAC compressor went down yesterday. The repair dude can't make it here until Tuesday. Maybe I wouldn't have had AC anyway.

Most of the time it's the capacitor on A/C. They're like 12 bucks and just plug a few wires into them. You're friendly A/C repairman will charge like 75 bucks plus labor for an easy repair for them.

who was actually on our industrial HVAC crew) cost me a whole new unit a few years back. Why? He was faced with two black wires to hook back up at the end of installing a new fan, and said, "it doesn't matter which goes where, they are both grounds." What he did caused my compressor to run full time 24/7 until it burned up. It turned out being more economical (from a REAL A/C company) to replace the whole outside unit than to replace that hidden compressor way down inside the coil. (Money was close to a wash, but new unit had a five year full replacement warranty, vs only a year or two on just the compressor replacement.)
