Be CAREFUL in Atlanta

The police around the Georgia Dome work hand in hand with the scalpers. The cops are corrupt down there and will arrest you if you hurt the market for scalpers. I was threatened with arrest for trying to give away tix for FREE one year.

years ago at the old stadium I went down with a group of guys from work to see the Falcons play someone (Rams maybe). Before the game we are talking and having a couple of beers in the lot when a homeless guys walks up and asks if he can borrow a cigarette. none of us had any but one of the guys was smoking a pipe. when told we had none the guy proceeds to ask the pipe smoker if he can borrow the pipe. unbelievable but true

From an ATL resident, that's not surprising.

I was at a nice restaurant in Atlanta recently waiting to valet my car. Some homeless dude shows up outta nowhere with a cleaning cart like a janitor would push around a school. He starts cleaning my car, unsolicited, and then starts asking for money. Ridiculous.

I've seen window washers in Dallas, Seattle, etc. I give those guys credit for an effort vs straight begging.

ago. In the morning I walk by a beggar holding up a sign explaining his plight. In the evening the same guy has flipped his sign over. it now said- "why lie? I need a beer"
I gave him money for one just for his honesty

I watched cops take tix and money from Clemson and UT fans

then hand the tix over to the scalpers for more money. I watched scalpers point the cops in the direction of real fans and the cops go run those people off so as not to compete with the scalpers. So if seeing money exchange hands is proof, then yes.

but we would be foolish to believe that they are all above that sort of thing.

I Spent 8 hrs in Atlanta Fulton Cty Jail for Tennessee game

for handing a ticket to an undecover. I had an extra ticket on hand and this guy comes up to our tailgate spot in front of the Dome asking did we have any extra tix.
I told him yes and asked who was it for. He said me and my son. I have at Clemson on the way in handed extra tix for free to young families and thought about doing it again.
As soon as the cop asked to look at the tix and I handed it to him, I was handcuffed before my drink hit the ground. NO MONEY was ever discussed. I asked what was going on and why and he said no selling of tix in front of the Dome and my intent was to sell.
Long story short, I was handcuffed, ruffed up in the back of the coip car, processed in an empty parking lot, shackled and handcuffed in a paddy wagon, driven to jail, put on an orange jumpsuit and turned into a holding area of about 100 of Atlanta's finest.
I hired a lawyer and went to court for my charge and sued the City. Of course all I got was a bunch of lost money but I did get some vindication when the cop who ruffed me up(zero alcohol involved with me) was reprimanded.
Sorry watch out, Atlanta PD blows!!!

Youre perfectly fine if you don't do it in front of the Dome

They don't give scalpers any issues if you walk down closer to the CNN center.
