BCS Bowl

Nov 26, 2012, 3:26 PM

Gotta Question. If Oklahoma loses Saturday to TCU wouldn't a BCS bowl have to take us based on the following rules:

You have to be in the top 14 to be selected for an at large bid

1 Notre Dame 12-0 National Championship Game
2 Alabama 11-1 National Championship Game
3 Georgia 11-1 Can't Be Selected
4 Florida 11-1 Sugar (SEC AT LARGE)
5 Oregon 11-1 Fiesta (PAC 10 AT LARGE)
6 Kansas State 10-1 Fiesta (Big 12)
7 LSU 10-2 Can't Be Selected
8 Stanford 10-2 Rose (pac 10 Champ)
9 Texas A&M 10-2 Can't Be Selected
10 South Carolina 10-2 Can't Be Selected
11 Oklahoma 9-2 Will not be selected (DUE TO LOSE TO TCU)
12 Nebraska 10-2 Rose (Big10 Champ)
13 Florida State 10-2 Orange(ACC Champ)
14 Clemson 10-2
15 Oregon State 8-3 Can't Be Selected
16 UCLA 9-3 Can't Be Selected

The Big East Champ will get the other Orange Bowl Bid because of the conference tie in

What other team does the Sugar have to select from? Just a question

and this is why coot fans pick on us about our conference. We don't deserve to go to a BCS game but we might go because of the stupid rule that only 2 from a conference can go

I do agree with you!! We do not deserve it!***

Yes if Oklahoma falls below #14 and Kent St. does not rise above #17 then Clemson will make the BCS.

The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:

A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,
B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.

If UCLA loses to Stanford that would drop UCLA and move Kent state at #16 and it would be a reality based on the rule stated above

what a friggin nightmare for that bowl. Didn't realize it was automatic

Based on the rules you stated Kent needs to get to 12th

Nov 26, 2012, 3:52 PM [ in reply to Re: BCS Bowl ]

Ucla would not be a conference champion with a loss and therefore they would not be ranked ahead of a AQ conference champion

They could be ranked ahead of Big East champ (Rutgers or Louisville), potentially.

It could happen if things break right. What would be really awful is if GT beats FSU. The ACC looks bad enough already, can you imagine a GT vs Kent St Orange Bowl? The Coots will be unbearable then

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, it is entirely possible for us to back into it

Nov 26, 2012, 3:32 PM

And quite frankly, while we are all still stinging from the Saturday game, we have a dynomite offense that can be unleashed at any time and therefore should allow us to compete. Whomever we face may be good, but they won't be as good as USC of FSU on the D-line. Honestly wheither we end up in the Sugar or Peach-fil-a, we are going to face somebody good. I'd like to view it as an opportunity to show we can make it happen and end the year on a happy note.

Sad thing is, Oklahoma could have already had their loss.

Nov 26, 2012, 3:59 PM

Okla. State just completely choked that game.
