If anyone was wondering why screen plays worked against UNC

Here it is, and it’s not because their defense isn’t great. Have always said DJ tries to pitch a football, that windup throws off his accuracy and timing of plays. DJ has a circular motion to get the ball out which is to slow, if you watch Cade his motion is like a slingshot which is what you want straight back then shoot forward. This is why I’m waiting on Streeter before saying we need a new OC if the timing is off execution is almost impossible. But if DJ transfers and they coach his mechanic problems out of him the way we couldn’t then we ABSOLUTELY need a new QB coach.

What DJ does next year says zero about Streeter. Coaching mechanical problems is a process with no immediate gratification. He might figure it out in the spring or it might be years or never.

Believe what you want but I will go with Carolina finishing the year with 115th ranked defense. They were terrible.

That's not a bad thing unless he is being threatened or thinks he's in danger. Changing the stride demands adjustments from the rest of the throwing mechanism.
Front leg pushes back, rear leg pushes forward which turns the hips. Hips rotate turning the body's trunk and the trunk turns the shoulders which pushed the arm forward.
A quick fix would to have DJ shorten his stride in all throws. That would take velocity off the ball but after he adjusted his body rotation the distance might be nearly equal his long strike long throw.
Imo, DJ's mechanics in a perfect situation are about as good as anyone's. His arm slot is almost as perfect as TL's. It's when his stride changes that messes him up. He screws around with his entire body when he hears foot steps.
That barely addresses his real problem which is that the game on the field isn't the one he's playing inside his head. If he gets straightened out it won't be because some coach waved a magic wand over his head or Oral Roberts laying on hands.
No, we don't need a new OC or QB's coach.

Definitely has mental issues in the field, but if he doesn’t quicken his release fixing those mental issues aren’t going to help much
