Before you get all bothered remember: this is Tigernet and no one takes you seriously. Except for JudgeKeller - you all take her super serious.

Aight, so let's say we lose a close one on Saturday to App State...

What the heck do we do?

Look, I'm confident it doesn't happen but if it does then we have some SERIOUS concerns.

I'm not saying App is a bad team. I'm saying we shouldn't lose to them. Period. Full stop. You can tweet that.

I think we blow their doors off... but what if we lose?

If we lose to App State, more fans will realize that Dabo isn't doing his job.

Dabo will be defensive in interviews. He will probably reference our playoff appearance four years ago and spout off other accolades from the 2010s, and dig his heels in about his assistants, his players, transfer portal, etc.

No changes will happen in personnel or staff during the season, and Dabo will continue maintaining that the program is in great shape and we are going to have a great year.

Rinse and repeat.

is (and I'm guessing if we did lose we'd lose due to offense ######## the bed yet again)

A. Fire Riley, grisham, richardson etc.

and/or

B. Open every single offensive position. All 11 positions are open to win it over the next 2 weeks.

I don't see any chance of A occurring to any level. B 100%.

Swinney says every week the positions are up for grabs. I didn’t say that, Swinney did. So that tells me the evaluation process is flawed or we may be doing the best we can. It doesn’t hurt to bring in back ups more often to see if they are “gamers”.

Look what happened last year when we let all the freshmen play on defense, they completely balled out. They also looked more inspired than some of the old heads. I say do the same this year and let them have their shot, both on offense and defense.

This is the part of these types of threads I'll never understand. For one, the coaches don't want to win more than anyone, they NEED to win more than anyone. Their jobs depend on it. And they know that, Every year, every week. Two, they are the ones that see these guys play every single day. Every day. They know what they have to work with and I can assure they're putting the best people available on the field every game. This isn't some high schooler whos dad is the local politician or doctor that's pressing the coach to give Junior more playing time. As is stated quite often, this is big business. And there ain't a coach out there that's gonna risk his livelihood on playing people he doesn't think can do the job at hand.

Not more than 4-5 years ago teams dominated because they were at least 2-deep at every position. You could platoon people in and out and not lose any talent level. The teams that still have that luxury are probably the ones that are in the top 5. THAT is the greatest "damage" the portal has done. Players are no longer content with being the number 2 guy on the depth chart. Regardless if they are a member of a championship team.

As far as the coaches are concerned, that is up to Dabo. One thing I have always told people is that Dabo is smart enough to know that he doesn't have to be the smartest guy in the room. Surround yourself with good people and you'll look like a genius. You do have to trust them to do their jobs though.

If we lose to App St. I would expect the team to quit and give half A$$ effort the rest of the season. If we can't beat App St. (no offense to them) then we shouldn't be favored against any team on our schedule. Would expect us to beat Citadel and have enough hype to beat South Carolina. But ultimately this could end up being a 5 win team.

That being said I think Clemson wins by at least two touchdowns tomorrow, regains momentum with a bye week and gets ready to play a good NC State team with the Valley rocking

The best part of that is if we lose tomorrow, against the Citadel and SC, we can still make the playoffs.

Losing the first two games would mean we would be 0-2. The good thing about 0-2 is there would be nowhere to go but up...unless 0-3 was in our future. But the good news beyond all that isn't what's on the scoreboard, it's that the football team has a 99% graduation rate, which is the most important part of college, right?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Per Dabo, you miss that first pass, you lost momentum and can't gain it back the rest of the game. All comes back to that.

If Clemson were to lose to APP State, absolutely nothing would change. Not even the post game press conference. Dabo isn't a man of change. He believes his way is the best way and he would also say this a great opportunity to overcome adversity.

I saw someone mention that there needs to be open competition at all 11 spots on Offense. Did we forget about Dabo's belief of how a player practices is how he will perform on the field in game time? DW4 wasn't named the starter for the longest time because Cole Stoudt earned it in practice. Same could be said about TLAW16. I'm not saying we have any of those dudes. But its about time we someone else play qb at Clemson. I've seen the same Cade since the spring game of last season. Nothing has changed with him. We also don't have anyone on this team who seems to be a leader.

I won't be at any game outside of the FSU game, but it would be nice hear the fans start chanting for the backup if Cade continues being Cade. Something has got to give. Dabo isn't desirable at any major program right now. So he isn't going to be ran off by fans booing.

Dabo will say something like this"

"It was just a few plays and this team grew up some this week. Had a great week of practice and I doesn't measure our success by the scoreboard. Cade played well and I see signs of maturing and I'm happy about his future. The coaches put together a good plan and we just had to take what they gave us. These guys love each other. Alright....I need to run. Gotta go by the night deposit and drop in my $900,000 check from tonight."

If we lose to App State tomorrow. The AD needs to clean house. No more Dabo, no more Garett Riley, no more Wes Goodwin. Especially get rid of all the dumb assistant hires Dabo has made over the last 3 or 4 years. If we lose to App State tomorrow we need to just go ahead and restart with a clean slate of coaches.
