If you kill a deer in SC you now have to notify SCDNR of the kill before midnight. Using an app. And this has to be done before the deer is taken to a processor.

$100 this system will crash multiple times and there will be some ticked off hunters.

You haven't lived until you tag an alligator and the sum beach comes back to life and you find yourself leaping over a mini dino at 3 am then wrestling it partially out of the boat to put another bullet in it.

That's always been the case with tagging.

Now you have to report the kill on an app, with the tag number, where killed, when, etc. And this generates a report number that has to be given to the processor.

IF the app is down, you have to keep the deer in your possession until it can be reported. Meaning if it's down for a long time, the processor won't take the kill because it's not fresh.

This is some next level nanny state BS.

Deer Harvest Reporting Updates

Reporting your deer harvest by midnight on the day of harvest is now required by law. You will be provided with a confirmation number upon completing a harvest report. If you plan to use a meat processor, you must report your harvest before dropping off the deer and provide the processor with the confirmation number received from your harvest report.

The most convenient way to report your harvest is with the SC Game Check feature in the GoOutdoorsSC mobile app on your smartphone.

You can also access deer harvest data and statistics for the state, your county, or WMA in the Hunter’s Toolbox within the Digital Backpack feature.
Download the App

we do all that cept the tag color.

I reckon in a year or two y'all will ditch the physical tags too. so dumb

but I think y'all have tight limits on how many does you can kill right? 3 / day here haha

they did cut number of bucks back to 2, unless your buck gets popped for CWD. Then you get another one.

and they did introduce a program in heavy CWD counties payin baws to bring in deer. hopefully that'll help

I've said it before, TN does a surprisingly fantastic job in their state DNR vs the other 2 states I've hunted a lot in (SC And GA)

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Back in the day we always used tags, on does only

But the club would record the harvest on harvest sheets, and at the end of the season we'd submit that to DNR. Private hunting nothing need be submitted, although we still used tags for does.

Few years back they went to tags for all deer, bucks and does.

Now this.

Was hunting one evening and killed 2 nice doe. Skinned them and quartered them, put them in a cooler and was leaving to take them to the processor. Just a mile or two from the hunting land, I hit a deer. Dead as a doornail. No damage to the meat. Tossed the deer in the trunk, went BACK to the hunting club, skinned it, added it to the cooler, and went to the processor, with one less headlight and a bent hood and grill.
