B.J. Goodson

Apr 15, 2013, 2:38 PM

I thought to me he looked like the best LB on the field Saturday. I thought he made a lot of plays and a lot of tackles. It was just my observation. I have heard great things on Jones and Anthony. I thought Steward and Goodson seemed to be the best Saturday. What do you guys think?

Goodson has a nose for the ball

and he's a thumper, when he hits someone they go down. He'll get his snaps this year as long as he continues to learn the playbook and Venables can trust him to run the defense. Don't forget tha the MIKE is the QB of the D and is the one calling change ups to the rest of the D if the opposing offense begins to shift.

He's freaking HUGE that's for sure. Looked Ray Lewis-sized.***

I remember Swinney talking him up when they got

Townsend, Anthony and Steward, saying he could be the best of the bunch.

Course he also talked up Cortez Davis.

We need a fast beast at LB.

Cortez Davis had a good shot to start this year.

Goodson was nasty in high school but wasn't highly recruited because he was playing single A ball.

Spring Game = Irrelevant

Apr 15, 2013, 3:29 PM

I hear what you're saying but you can't tell much from this game. LB is the hardest position to play on defense but an "in-house practice game" is not a true barometer of who should get PT. He's talented and should certainly be a very good player but take this game with a grain or two or three of salt.

Lateek got all kinds of praise last spring and then couldn't get on the field.

Same with countless other spring practice all-americans
