Greenvillenews cancelling my subscription. Beg me to stay but I said I'm not going to support or read a newspaper that has Bart Wright as one of their writers. That I'm sick and tired of his constant bashing of Clemson and their coaches. I can get the same news elsewhere and the weekly adds can come directly from the stores website. The rest is used to paint on our start my charcoal.
I have had enough of that pony tail idiot.

complain about a very negative article he wrote about Clemson. I was respectful, until he said ," If you are looking for me to put a positive spin on Clemson, then you can look elsewhere". I had been reading that sports page with a cup of coffee every morning since I was about 8 years old. (Yep, my grandmother got me hooked on coffee when I was 2).I cancelled on the spot.I missed it for about a week.

and these businesses that shun or attack Clemson fans can be cut off. Here in Cootlumbia when a nasty comment is made in a business or restaurant about my Clemson atire or whatever, I firmly tell them that it is o'aky because I can take my business elsewhere.
Tired of the Clemson bashing. $2.00 bills my Tiger friends. Remember we make an impact. Show them that.

subscription to the Greenville News about 12 years ago, mainly because of the negative reporting of Clemson sports in general.
Then there was also the issue of them obviously not having proofreaders on staff.

a slowly dying newspaper. I canceled several months ago due to his reporting. Can anyone recall a negative Spurrier article after all the Five Points issues down there? And Wright with his ponytail looks just like the guy who puts fertilizer on my yard for Chem Lawn. Wait a minute.......

I grew up in G'ville, but live in Bama now. I canceled my newspaper 2-3 years ago after always having a newspaper. It finally made no sense to read "history" when I already knew what I wanted to know by the time it was printed in the rags.
Kudos for canceling due to Bart Wright though. They need to focus on SUC and their lack of discipline - and the wrist slap they got for their punishment.

we've beeen missing you at the meetings.
I dropped the Greenville New years ago primarily because of Bart Wright.
Bart Wright has had an ax to grind with Dabo ever since the University changed its policy that governs access by the media to coaches and players.
Beyond that, Bart Wright has always been more interesting in taking self-serving over-opinionated shots at Clemson University and its coaches rather than reporting on anything of substance or value. The recent article just further confirms it.
There are some very good reasons why subscriptions to the Greenville News are at an all-time low and the Greenville News is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. It's just a shame the Greenville News either doesn't realize or care that Bart Wright is one of those reasons.

Although I grew up in Greenville, I haven't lived there for many many years. Back when I was young, The News was, if anything, very "pro" Clemson. When did it start to turn?
I just flipped over to their website and saw the article blasting Dabo. I definitely would consider cancelling a subscription just based on that if I lived there and has one!
I've seen other mentions of this Bart dude on social media sites. Is he the primary anti-Tiger? Are there others? How do you guys put up with it?????

it started when Dan Scott retired as sports editor..Wright was hired from a paper in Seattle which i thought was strange...hes anti everything in my opinion, just always trying to stir up chit....the NEWS has turned into a total rag....75% ads

Like I said, I don't know much about the News anymore being in Atl. (Or course, down here, I have to put up with the Pro SEC, SEC is great, no one can touch the SEC attitude!!!)
Actually surprised the News is still hanging on and hasn't went to at least 3 days per week as the Birmingham News (used to live there also... clone of the AJC) When I was young, I can remember the AJC being such a large newspaper. Now, it's the size of the old News!
On a side (but related note) Downtown Greenville looks so much better than when I was young. However, always comment about the 70s looking Greenville News Building sitting in the middle of all the renovation --- and looks like nothing has been done to that building since it was first built.
