As we wait on the next domino to fall in

conference realignment I am hoping college football collapses on itself like a black hole. At this point it is irrelevant whether Clemson ends up in the BIG, SEC, Big 12 or stays put. I really couldn’t care less because we are not going to nor should we contribute to the sick and pathetic environment that is epitomized by the Oregons of the world. If this is what some of you want then have it but I think you will find in the next few years that you are in a very small minority.

1. Blame the universities who comprise the NCAA. The universities want to be the minor league for the NFL and NBA. The NBA and NFL are more than willing to let them be. (It's a great deal for those two leagues.)
2. Blame the fans who have the "win at all cost" mentality and demand the school hire the best coaches, build the best infrastructure, recruit the best players, and "just win, baby" and are willing to pay big bucks in tickets, booster fees, TV subscriptions, etc.
3. Blame the rich boosters, the Phil Knights of the world, who will pay whatever it takes to "win a national championship before I die."
And, you and I are in a minority. As long as there are universities who will recruit like UGA and have the Oprah mentality (you get a car and you get a car and you get a car) and enough people who will pay for it, then this is the system that is.

Well said BretFSU.
I also think NFL and NBA are partly to blame as well. They are laughing all the way to the bank as the NCAA tries to become more and more like the minor leagues for those two cash cows. If things were "fair", the NFL and NBA should either have to 1) Set up true minor leagues the way baseball is setup. or 2) Buy into the free minor league system they get to use and abuse.
But instead they get to shamelessly use the college system to their advantage without shelling out a dime for all the "prospects" until draft day.
Wild idea here, but if we're going to continue to ruin college football, what if the NFL teams had to each "sponsor" the colleges or conferences within their geographic region. So there would be an actual affiliation there. Interesting rabbit hole to run down there.

You think a better approach to "recruiting" is the FSU approach? Bring in and rely on a bunch of transfers most of whom care so little that rather than take the field and make a statement about their abilities, they opt to watch their team take an historic beating? Did any of them get NIL cash or cars or did they sign because Norvell has such a great rep?

Its getting harder and harder to stay interested in college football with all the BS going on these days....I love the sport and Clemson dearly - so I will keep watching. But my love for it is definetley not what it once was.

Yes sir I feel the same. They have taken amateur sports that use to be played for pride, and they have infected it with $$$money$$$. There is no antibiotic that can cure the $$$$ disease and amateur college sports is dying right in front of us, and for me that is really sad!!!

I can see it coming, if this continues on this path. The colleges will be become pay to play developmental leagues for the NFL. Very much like the minor league baseball teams. How much interest is there minor league baseball? Not much!! If we continue in this direction college football will become the NFL minor league, and I believe the interest level will wane as well. I for one like the path Clemson is following. Keep the HS kids coming let the semi pros play elsewhere unless the transfer is a good fit for Clemson culture.

The sport is fine. It's the money-grubbing business that is problematic.
