As promised, update on the Inspire Implant I had

It was finally turned on this past Tuesday. So far I am doing ok with it, but still getting used too the little currents going to the back of my tongue. No you don’t feel any electricity just a pulsing type sensation. At the present it is on the lowest setting, but tonight I will turn it up one level. Very easy to use, just hit the button and lay down. If you get up during the night you hit pause and again when you go back to bed. Morning, just turn it off.

Don’t know how many tnet guys/gals have the Apple Watch, but my watch woke me Friday morning showing me in afib, nothing new for me, but when it did I noticed something odd was happening also. I was having a stroke, mini, at the time. Classed as TIA and sent from the hospital to a stroke clinic. Those in the medical field will know what TIA is. Already have several appointments made and on top of that I have to go see a Urologist for a suspicious matter on my bladder. Also last night I went into afib 9 times. Cardiologist consulting with his team, may be headed to hospital soon.

Sorry about the long post, but you guys are great on prayers.

Hope you get good reports . I had no idea how that Inspire worked - not sure how I would like having that type of sensation. I do well with the Cpap and will stick with that unless I start having problems with it.

Good luck with all of that.

Like others, did not know Inspire worked like that. Had wondered when I saw the commercials. Dumb question, but is that pulse somehow contributing to the afib?

The Inspire isn’t triggering it. Just the problems with the heart itself.

I’ve had my Inspire working for 5 months and it is great. I can pick the amount of charge to my tongue and sleep peacefully. I recommend it if you qualify.? Your BMI is crucial for Medicare to pay for it.?

Thanks for sharing. Prayers for you IllinoisTiger. Have you had anything done before for the afib (i.e. medications, ablation, cardioversion, etc)?

I have been on meds for awhile and procedures done. Just that my old body is telling me it’s time to slow down some. Had 6 surgeries in the last 4 years.

I was diagnosed with afib this past year, first I was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope which I found out in October was related to the afib. On October 3rd had a ablation with a loop recorder put in, went back into afib two weeks later and had a cardioversion done where they shocked my heart back into rhythm. Been good since then, took eight weeks to go back to work but feeling so much better now. Best part is no more syncope episodes so far, prayers for you. Go Tiger's.

After a routine EKG last Feb, I was diagnosed with afib...

Jan 8, 2023, 3:36 PM

with no previous heart issues whatsoever...I'm 72. Got it back in sync with a cardioversion in April, they put in the loop recorder in August. Has stayed in sync, so doc took me off blood thinner(Xarelto) in October...just taking an aspirin a day now, along with a low dose of a beta blocker.

I think afib is somewhat hereditary. My mom was diagnosed with it at about my age, but lived with it for 20 years.

Was having frequent afib. Had heart ablation and have been afib free for past 3 months.

I have dealt with this issue. It took three heart ablations and several shock treatments to finally get my heart in rhythm. Best of luck you. You don't know it until you have it. When it is in rhythm, you feel so much better.

I’ve been thru a couple of afib episodes, but returned to regular rhythm on my own both times. Had the ablation 6-8 years ago and have had no recurrence. If Tiger hoops keep winning, I suspect more of my maladies will go by the wayside. Keep us posted on that implant. Not familiar with that.

Been dealing with afib for 25 years. Finally had an ablation for afib and atrial flutter (that’s when heart rate increases rapidly. Mine got up to 190 BPS when I went in). Just listen to Docs. There is so they can do for it now
Good luck
