Not exactly a teaching moment. It’s the kind of moment that causes many of the 43,000 traffic deaths per year in the United States. Drunk, crossing double yellow lines at 90 mph at 1:50 AM Sunday morning, is a trauma eventuality. Besides, it takes about two days to sober up from that kind of a drunk. By that time he’s already on to his next fun.

UGA will probably give him a bottle of Jack Daniels and a case of Budweiser as penalty for getting caught, which would be a reduction of his intake now.

Kinda sad we have a grave yard at Clemson for killing highly ranked opponents and UGA could open their own grave yard for well killing.......I think you get where I am going.

I'm sure that all of Tiger nation is in hopes of putting a tomb stone in the graveyard from beating Top rank UGA in September. I know I'm wishing, hoping and praying that it's our Tigers that knock them off their high horse and letting the nation know that we're back and we're coming after natty title. Go Tiger beat Jawja!!!
As far as Travis's brother getting caught driving drunk and reckless, I'm pretty sure that's something an awful lot of us have done at least once in our lifetime, and I say those that has never made a terrible choice like that, cast your stones, but I'm not one of those bc I've been guilty of it twice myself, but my second time was the last time that I drove intoxicated, I crashed my car beyond any chance of being repaired.
I was lucky enough not to have harmed anyone, not even myself and it was the very last time that I ever got behind the wheel of any type of vehicle if I have drank past my 3 beer limit. It's not worth the risk of killing an innocent person or their family...

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to cast the first stone!!! There is no time or place for driving drunk!!! It’s a deplorable, selfish act that demonstrates a deficiency in morality, integrity and intelligence. It absolutely defines who and what you are, a f$&@ing loser!!!!

"As we also know, kids sometimes don't make the best decisions," Smart said.
But let's pay them a crap ton of money to play football and put no guidelines on it whatsoever.
"The older you get, sometimes the tougher the consequences are for your mistakes. So, he's not going to let this mistake define him. He's embarrassed and upset, and he knows he made a mistake. It's a teaching moment, and we hope he gets better from it."
He's going to learn nothing because charges will be dropped or reduced. The only thing learned here is if you can play the rules don't apply. Not just at UGA either.

I’m sure if he misses a game they will probably sit him out for week two when they play Tennessee Tech. No way they are going to suspend him against us.

That is what they'll do, but it should be a strict rule by the NCAA that if a student athlete has been found guilty of charges like Trevor Etienne has been charged of, that the student athlete will miss they're first power 5 competitive game, and not one of the warmup/practice like games that schools will schedule for the start of a season. That would leave them no choice of the severity of the punishment...

That is what Steve Spurrier always said, he said the best time to play Georgia is the first game of the season when they have so many players suspended from trouble they got in during the summer!!!

Yes sir, you speak the truth bc of how loaded Georgia is with the highest 4 star and 5 star talent. They have enough top talent that they could lose one in about every position and they have a backup just as talented, and they could beat an awful lot of power 5 teams with just the #2s in the game!!!

I think the options should be redshirt with possible dismissal unless he really turns it around. And yes, I would expect the same for a Clemson player.

If the charges were indeed stacked, sounds to me like the cops weren’t GA fans!
I do, however, think Etienne needed this early wake up call and want to believe he already learned a valuable lesson. We know he comes from a very good family- Travis will definitely be in his ear!

"If" "Could" = opportunity to discipline him in preseason and not during season so as to keep best players on the field no matter the look or lack of discipline.
Terrible decision on his part as a young man. I am sure the arresting officer knows who was driving and it was indeed Trevor. UGA keeps having issues, but it is more about these young men going through life and struggling like every other young man/woman.
Let us hope his family including Travis can help him understand every decision has a consequence. Thankfully nobody was hurt in this situation!

Let's be for real....we all know Kirby Smart is not going to suspend him for the opening game against Clemson. This would be too much like right and a display of integrity, which we all know is not a characteristic of the UGA football program. This is evident of the low graduation rate of its players in addition to a former starting QB who is enrolled in the school for 6 years and doesn't event finished with a degree. His suspension will be against Vanderbilt or some team they are 30 point favorites against.

That is the smartest thing that he done, and I think that is why the cop has stacked so many charges against the kid. The kid exercised his right to refuse a crooked sobriety test where most of those machines haven't been calibrated for years, and they are supposed to be calibrated I think it's every 3 to 6 months, and that alone pisssed that cop off, and I believe that is the very reason there is so many charges against him, and it's bc he exercised his lawful right that every driver has and should use bc once you blow it's about impossible for an attorney to defend you of the charge, and how many people do you think don't care about that conviction being on your record for years...
Personally, I hope that the kid will learn from this and never gets behind the steering wheel again if he has been drinking, but it's a fact that 3 beers withing a couple of hours, blowing in that machine will put you over the limit when you know you're not drunk after 3 beers within a couple of hours. The sobriety test by blowing in that machine is set to make you guilty of being D R U N K after only 3 beers, and most of us know that is total bull chit especially if you have a few beers 3 or 4 times a week you don't even feel the buzz from just 3 beers that the machine will say you're drunk!!!

He refused a FIELD sobriety test, not necessarily a police-station breathalyzer.

If he refused to take a breathalyzer test at the police station, it's pretty much a 1-year license suspension-- which may not be such a bad deal for a college kid with a Louisiana license who can afford Uber.

KID WILL NEVER GO TO TRIAL. HE WILL BE CUT A DEAL AND COMPLETE A 4 WEEK Pretrial Intervention Program to have these charges wiped from his record like they never even happened. Then he will most likely be sitting out the second half of the Clemson game from being concussed by Peter Woods!

Just gonna add this....There are no "kids" in college football. The use of that term is an attempt to dismiss the seriousness of the problem and to not make Ettiene or Georgia's coaching staff take responsibility for what has happened. It like the old days when some jocks would rape a girl or merely bully a weak kid and the old ball coach would dismiss it and say, "Well, you know boys will be boys."
