Arizona practice begins: Quick observations and nuggets
Clemson’s legendary past met up with its legend-in-the-making present Tuesday afternoon at Scottsdale Community College. The Clemson football team held its first practice in Arizona at the community college early in the afternoon, and former players were on hand to take in the proceedings. Full Story » |

See Bill Spiers, the walk on who answered Danny's call for a punter!

Field position is so important between two evenly matched teams. We so need our punter to show some improvement. Also, Huegel, may be a huge factor. I don't beleve he has attempted but one FG over our last three games.

Huegel has been solid this year. Teasdall? Quite another story. He kicks 'em high and short. At least there are no returns. But I would like to see something better than 35 yards.

Arizona practice: Observations re: Kickers

We apparently have a boatload of coaches, which may be good...except when you tell me that we have recruited more QBs than can possibly play, and yet can't find two kickers that can punt well and consistently kickoff into the end zone. If guys like me can see that, why can't our highly paid staff see it??!! We do so many things well and a few things really not so well...
GO TIGERS!!!

Skalski nailed a 42-yard field goal after practice this season and from what I've read, also averaged something like 42 yards per punt in high school... he also hits like a Mack truck with a full load. The third time Teasdale kicked less than 30 yards, I'd have made a change. It's amazing how someone can drop a couple balls and lose their position in the depth chart but another can completely #### the bed all season and stay at the top. Ohio State is known for their special teams units... I hope we bring our A game Saturday.

We'd be better off putting a QB back there and letting him throw it away from the guy receiving the punts.

Also, Teasdale wasn't horrible last year (minus the one boneheaded play, that was awful), what happened there between last year and this year? He wasn't going to win any awards, but he was serviceable with his hang time and 40+ yard average.

Clemson fans/media need to stop propping up Feaster

in the return game just because he has "special speed".
Talk about your generalizations that people just can't let go of....
if you want to see a true freshman running back who was a man amongst men
go back and look at tapes of CJ Spiller against the likes of Boston College and USuCk.
The man ran to daylight, ran without fear of the hit, and made it hard on anyone trying to finish the tackle -
all straight out of HS.
If Feaster hasn't unseated CJ Fuller as backup RB this year
then he needs to stay off special teams and learn - truly learn - the RB position.
Focus and repetition is what some guys need, and Feaster seems to be one of them....

I'm positive they have a better grasp of things than the collective coaching IQ of this entire message board.

No doubt, but I think we did see flashes of how good Feaster can be. Cut him some slack. He was not used a whole lot. Next year, different story, IMO.
