He's the 5th but not a surprise...

He simply didn't develop into the 3-point shooter we anticipated plus he's a HUGE defensive liability.

Best of luck to him.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

This goes to Brownells weaknesses. Recruiting and developing.

Along with his struggles with in game changes, Brownells struggle to identify and develop talent is a huge issue. Generally, it is the high school talent he struggles with, but it also seems he has same issue with portal.

Why did Brownell did not see how he as a defensive weakness? Plenty of tape on him.
Why could he not develop or make a role for him?

All too common an issue.

Brownell seems to dell with tweaking guys as they develop themselves, but not thru his coaching.

Wiggins is a huge example, as well as the other transfer guys.

That's a little bit of unfair statement. Coach does not identify and develop talent? Ian Shefflin was a raw athlete and developed into a great player out of highschool. As far as transfers it is a roll of the dice for everyone. That 6'11 kid was pretty doggone this Year. Zachary is good . Joe Girard last year. This kid is a good player but maybe not ACC quality. Best of luck to him.

I would contend that the transfers he gets in like Zachary - were talented players when they arrived. Not developed.
Sheff was one who did develop. But this is super rare for Brownell. It is the anomaly. If you name is not Duke - then you need a mix of strong high schoolers that develop and fill in with portal. It appears that Brownell does not recruit high school well, nor develop them. Good with one year wonders. Hard to grow that way.

Some would have been better off to go with hoping for more playing time, but IMO Heidbreder may have chit himself bc he had imo of being a starter on next season's team for our Tigers. Depending on what team that picks him up, he may not have the chance to be a starter and that would put him in the very situation he was in last season.

In my absolute Opinion, you can't be much worse than being a Quitter bc "you" feel you are a better player than the person ahead of you. I've always felt that if someone is better than another player, it won't be long before someone will notice you and give you the chance to prove that you're better, but it takes someone other yourself to see that you're better bc some people just think to highly of themselves, and there is a lot of those types in competition sports.

Also, if a person believes they are better than the person playing ahead of them, if they would work harder than them someone will notice bc, when you have two players that are equally good, the one that deserves to play the most are usually the one called out to play first, and that's usually the guy that works the hardest...

Alot of kids leaving now. But, he had no one 🕜 n front of him with Wiggins transferring out. His post season sit down with the coach must not have been what he wanted to hear.

Shefflin and Chase Hunter were developing players. There are 2 kids playing in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets that would disagree with your assessment as well!

3 straight 24 or more win seasons in a row, finishing no worse than a tie for 3rd place in the ACC, 2 straight NCAA bids, a trip to the elite 8, ending the streak in Chapel Hill, winning the most games in a season ever and I think this all was in the last 3 years. Yeah, he's just a mid major coach.
