If Clemson beats LSU in 2019?
Recruiting stayed the same after, but maybe a back-to-back could’ve boosted recruiting to a different level.

Danny got NOoo boast at all after 1982 Natty win which was a surprise to all including him..which showed what?
That maybe high school recruits thought Clemson was loaded and didn’t need them..or that the one-time Natty was a fluke and/or Nebraska had more up-scale & long-tine prestige due to earlier natty successes..
Coaches didn’t utilize the Natty title enough in recruiting or whatever.

But it seems as if, you know, if Clemson wins back-to-back, and goes into LSU’s home state for a national championship, that would’ve been enormous.
I really don’t think we would’ve gone down as quick. We’re not irrelevant, but if things stay like that, we will be.
But winning that game could’ve strung along the success at That level longer than it did.

We must use the portal. Who cares. They are all young men, and can be matured in the right environment around them.
That is what you do not see at Georgia and a lot of places. Players may often be “unhappy” where they are, show misconduct at bad levels, etc. That is due to the lack of care that those programs give to their players. What else could it possibly be?
Clemson has had a few instances, but a very small sample compared to the rest. And we recruit way better, we have developed them way better. Nick Saban and other dynasty coaches have coached some individual great teams, but the 2018 team must lead all-time in total margin of victory. All without any of the nonsense.
But Dabo can create a da** way to get transfers in here I guess “ethically” in his perspective. He’s instilled multiple initiatives within the program for the players, like PawJourney and such, that I am sure there is some separate program he could put transfer players through. If he was that serious about their separate development apart from the players who are already there.
Just saying, if you look at the top teams that are really in it, they all have brought in numerous transfers.

I think it was a combination of several things that has Clemson in the position it is in today. Covid and the inability for coaches to visit players and get players to campus hurt Clemson a lot.
Venables and Scott leaving hurt our recruiting as well as our play on the field. Those guys are hard to replace. The sooner we get Scott back on staff the better.
We whiffed on way too many highly rated players in the last few recruiting classes. Look at all the guys that we signed starting around 2019 that literally failed. Joseph Ngata 5*, Frank Ladson 4*, EJ Williams 4*, DJU 5*, Dacari Collins 4*, and others. Some of these guys should be seniors this year.
We hitched our wagon to Demarkcus Bowman in 2020 which means we missed out on some other high potential RBs. Do not think he has done much is college so we whiffed on both the assessment and missed out on another possible quality RB.
Way too many coaches learning on the job. There are numerous examples of teams getting more production with less talent than Clemson has. We have the checkbook to hire literally any position coaches we want, and pay well enough that they would stay a long time, but we hire former players with little to no coaching experience. We replaced Robbie Caldwell with Thomas Austin?
Good news is based on the early returns from some of the younger players, we may have turned the corner and are once again bringing in top quality players. Find us another Mike Williams and a few Ben Boulwares and we are back in business.

Yes, we are not 5th in the country like this time last year, and we did not sign a QB for the first time in at least 10 years…maybe ever.

Doubt it since our #2 recruiting class for 2020 was our best ever-on paper.

it was believed that the biggest recruiting bump will be had in the 2nd class following a natty because signing day was scheduled shortly after the national championship game. Probably not the case since the signing day changes—

2020/2021 hurt us because we couldn’t have our camps & visit with the kids in a competitive way in those special hills!
