The cop broke the rules of the department

Sep 27, 2012, 2:39 PM

with posting the situation on public forum. Also in taking shots at Dabo. So what is the problem? Break the rules, you get fired, isn't that how the Job world works? How is this Dabo's fault?

Only an idiot or a coot can't understand that.***

There's something in these hills.

Are they not one in the same? Kind of redundant, hahaha***

Re: The cop broke the rules of the department

I think his beef seems to be that his boss knew about it- and had no problem with it

and that he has examples of other cops- including his boss- using the computer for personal stuff.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So....this has nothing to do with Clemson's coach

Sep 27, 2012, 3:12 PM

other than he happened to be the one in the traffic stop the ex-officer bragged about?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson

I don't

Sep 27, 2012, 3:29 PM

know.

The cop said that a city official called while he was making the stop and wanted to talk to him. he didn't take the call- which was the right thing to do.

If a city official tried to get him to drop something- that's a problem- but that's the city official's problem.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sounds like a routine ticket for the coach, then***

I think

Sep 27, 2012, 3:35 PM

so- and I am a Gamecock fan.

I think the coach and his brother should have got back in their truck. But I've done the exact same thing before so I understand why he did it. He was where he was going. But still - it's not a good idea to ignore a cop when he asks you to do that. but again, if the officer doesn't press the issue- then it's a non issue.

Now from watching the video- the cop seems to handle things fine.

Apparently Dabo's brother made some comments to the officer about him doing a bad job. The officer doesn't do anything wrong at the stop.

After the stop is where the officer gets way carried away.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That being said, I would think powers that be will now

Sep 27, 2012, 3:22 PM [ in reply to Re: The cop broke the rules of the department ]

investigate the police department on these alligations. Now everyone in the police department is going to suffer because of this stupid loud mouth cop. He got fired because of his actions alone. He should have just done his job and not posted on the internet. Dabo should hve just stayed in his truck until the officer was done. However im sure when Dabo pulled in the parking lot there was a crowd waiting for him since this was a planned event. The officer new Dabo was not going to leave the Bilo parking lot until the radio show was over so they could have worked somthing out. All the officer had to do was use some common sence with handling this matter.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i tend to agree

Sep 27, 2012, 3:32 PM

1) The officer should have never posted anything about it anywhere. their are procedures for releasing such things to the public - which includes FOI requests. Every department has an administrative person that handles those things.

2) Dabo and his brother should have stayed in the truck- or should have returned to sit in the truck when the officer asked them. That's a courtesy to follow the officers directions.

3) The beef seems to be now that the officer is saying it was common for other officers to be on the internet- and that his boss knew he was posting it on the internet. That still is no excuse to post it on the intenet though.

The police department will be in a slight mess if they don't have good documentation of other officers being penalized for the same thing (using the internet at work for personal stuff).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

On the last point

Sep 27, 2012, 3:34 PM

how could he even prove such a thing? If it's his word, I don't think it'll hold up enough. I know you can keep track of internet history to a point, just depends on how thorough you are.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson

well

Sep 27, 2012, 3:36 PM

I could see a situation where he has maybe ex officers saying that it was common to be on the internet at work - and that they routinely saw the chief using the internet at work - maybe even posting on blogs or something.

But that's only a guess.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If he has enough other witnesses willing to come forward

Sep 27, 2012, 3:38 PM

yes, you could be right.

I always thought police were a tight-knit group though. I can't see others siding with this man against other officers if he doesn't even want his job back.

But who knows

Re: If he has enough other witnesses willing to come forward

Sep 27, 2012, 3:42 PM

I imagine he's more interested at this point in being a law officer somewhere else - and being fired for cause probably hurts him.

He probably just wants that cleared up - not sure though.

I think what he was saying today was- they called him and told him to resign, - and he didn't even know why. He refused. Then they fired him. That's when they produced a performance review document saying he'd been written up twice before but has "refused to sign" the performance review document. The officer said he didn't "refuse" to sign it- that he had never seen it before.

I am not taking one side or the other. But I don't think it unusual for employers to try to go back and create a paper trail to cover themselves.

I think he's mad because he's seen other officers using the internet for personal use and nothing has been done about it.

At least that seems to be his side of it based on what I heard on the radio. If that's his side of it, I can understand him being upset about the entire deal - especially if - as he says- his boss knew he was posting about it on the internet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

lmao!!!

Sep 27, 2012, 3:54 PM

"I am not taking one side or the other. But I don't think it unusual for employers to try to go back and create a paper trail to cover themselves"

Nah, you're not taking one side or the other....you're just taking one side coot. When all else fails, when you're trying to defend the indefensible, when there's no question of who's at fault...... play that conspiracy card. The Pickens Police Dept is being paid by IPTAY to create false evidence so they legally fire this upstanding, unbiased defender of justice...... because every employee in the Pickens Police Dept is on the IPTAY take and fully supports railroading this poor, innocent guy and have promised in secret meetings never to reveal who actually runs the law in Pickens.

Run quick, Tymick, the orange helicopters will be coming after you now that you've figured everything out.

Idiot

Your silly

Sep 27, 2012, 4:06 PM

I said I am not taking one side or the other and I am not.

I am posting exactly what he said today.

If he was fired for something other people in the department have done- and they haven't been fired- i can understand why he'd be upset.

I've already posted at least 3-4 times that his posting that info on the internet was obviously wrong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To me the issue is him posting anything about the stop on

Sep 27, 2012, 5:46 PM [ in reply to i tend to agree ]

the message board. If he's got some down time at work and he's on the Big Spur posting about Connor Shaw's shoulder or something, I don't see that as a big deal. But to post about a traffic stop that he did on an Internet message board is stupid and should be a fire-able offense.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

well

Sep 27, 2012, 10:30 PM

I agree that was wrong. There is no way someone should be doing that.

The issue legally I would think is - has the police department acted in a similiar way when other officers have done something similiar.

There may not be another situation exactly like that in their department- but has the police department been consistent in such issues or issues that are somewhat related. That would be the case it seems.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yup coots cant use logic though..

Sep 27, 2012, 3:17 PM

i applaud the cop for stopping a speeder.i applaud the cop for giving dabo a ticket despite the fact that he was dabo.but the moment he posted it on a rivals message board.threw any of his integrity out of the window.
