I overslept and missed my flight back from Florida on Sunday after staying out late with a friend and his hot wife Saturday night. For as much as it costs, you’d think Spirit Airlines would be more accommodating and find a way to get me home anyways. I honestly don’t know how rich people manage the whole process of buying tickets, waking up on time, getting in the right lines, and having credit cards with high enough limits to get approved for drinks and snacks while in the air.
Anyhow, I ended up having to bus it back. For anyone that frequently travels on Greyhound, you know it’s going to take you all day regardless of how far you’re going. I have excellent time management skills and usually multitask. I was lucky enough to sit next to an uncertified accountant in 2018 that helped me fill out my tax forms. I got a refund big enough to cover the bus fair which was pretty amazing if you knew how little I made that year.
I wasn’t so lucky on Sunday. Things started out well enough when a pretty attractive woman for Greyhound standards sat next to me. After the normal small talk about which dating sites we use, politics and our favorite American Idol seasons, we moved on to college football. Turns out her cousin who she couldn’t stop taking about went to Kentucky and she was an SEC fan. Things seem to get frosty after that. She accused me of “bad bus etiquette” when I took my shoes off to trim my toe nails. I responded by telling her that we both knew what this was really about and told her to find another seat if she was going to give me a hard time about being in ultra-productive mode.
After seeing all the Alabama fans whining about the referees last night, I got to thinking. Are all SEC fans going to be insufferable this offseason after racking up so many L’s?

Actually, Auburn, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Miss State are decent fans.
Georgia, USC, Tennessee and LSU are awful….. Win or lose!
I hope Chad was clipping his toenails on the bus with a white T-Shirt and not a Clemson shirt.
If you wear a Coot shirt, you can pick your nose, scratch your butt or elsewhere while riding the bus and it’s OK……

It was all true except for the part about getting the tax refund. I didn’t make enough that year to get that much back. I didn’t want anyone to think I was poor though so I embellished a bit.

Hopefully she found a new seat and it wasn't too full. Must have been getting off for smoke breaks along the way anf having to see her glaring at you. I hate the SEC. She probably loves ESPN too. People like that make me sick.

I might add, I took Greyhound from Portland to Miami many years back when I was just before my prime, and I think that is the only way to travel. 8 days seeing America from inside of bus is amazing. I highly recommend it.

I read somewhere that Greyhound was the way the original settlers got out west. I kinda wish things would go back to the way they were back then. Simpler, happier times.
