Lunge product reviews: Do you pay for music streaming service?

Which one? Something particular you like about it? How many clams per month?

I bought some airpods and it came with 'free' apple music subscription and I got unwittingly hooked on the ability to just play whatever I wanted at will.

But, it's like $11 a month and that seems a bit high.

Listen to Amazon Music....

But don't pay. Its included with Prime, but to have complete control over songs you must pay.

the full package deal. I think it runs around $40 a month, but honestly, I find it worth it. I split it with my in-laws, so my share ends up being just half of that. Not a bad arrangement when you think about it. The plan covers up to six accounts, so everyone gets their own access to all the bundled services like Apple Music, iCloud storage, Apple TV+, Fitness+, and Arcade. Its a no-brainer for a larger family setup.

Also Apple Music is much better than any other streaming service when it comes to audio quality, if you're nerdy and into stuff like lossless.

Same man, but it's Apple PREMIER Family. Don't let these poors think

The lossless (And Atmos---it's mind blowing) is awesome, but their curated playlists are just plain assssss.

SheFree uses a ton of space on her phone for work. She was about to pay $20 for her cloud usage. For $20 more I have the cloud, AppleTV, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, plus others. I think there are 5 of us on it. Well worth every penny. I listen to Apple Music nonstop. The Essential Xmas playlist right now is stellar. The Halloween playlist was perfect. Comedy Now is the radio comedy channel that showcases a lot of talent. None of the platforms are making artists super rich, but Apple Music is one of the best at paying artists.

I have more albums on my phone than all of the CDs, cassettes, records, or 8 tracks I have ever owned. Most recent amazing album I have downloaded is the new Tears for Fears album, “Songs for a Nervous Planet”. Also “Luck and Strange” by David Gilmour.

We also have Prime but never use it because of how awesome Apple Music is. Prime is one of the worst at paying artists. The one thing I do miss with Apple Music is new comedy since Netflix has taken the monopoly on it.

Most of my friends and people I know at work have Spotify. They seem to really like it.

I mainly got SiriusXM for use in my cars while traveling but do use their Internet streaming as well.

Of course you get a lot more than just music with SiriusXM including the radio broadcast of almost every FBS college football game.

SiriusXM is very expensive compared to the pure music streaming services but I guess they gotta pay for those satellites somehow...

weirdly nice about something or somebody else choosing songs at random for me, the "shuffle" effect. When a tune is pulled that I wasn't anticipating or thinking about, that brings a very satisfying feeling I don't get by programming my own songlist.

The element of surprise or something.

Playing the game is even automated now. Log into your account online. Go into the chat with the AI chatbot. Say "I want to cancel". They'll say why. Reply "service is too expensive". They'll come back with an initial offer. Say "That's still too expensive". They'll then come back with about $6 a month for 6 months. Accept that. Come back in 6 months and repeat the process. Takes 2 minutes.

No real reason. I've just had it forever and have some playlists on there. It serves its purpose: lots of music, cheap, and playable on demand.

I agree that their algorithm isn't as good as Pandora's. I've also recently noticed that the "shuffle" tends to start with the same dang songs all the time. Maybe that's a coincidence but I imagine its prioritizing whoever paid them. If I have 100 song Christmas playlist, I don't always want to hear Jingle Bell Rock in the first five songs.

I wish there was an "original song" option on Spotify

No remastered, no live versions, just the original #### album song. If I want a live version, or a remake, or remastered, I will choose that. But by default I want the ORIGINAL FREAKING SONG.

Spotify needs to hire whoever TikTok uses, to manage their Al Gore Rhythm.

Pandora (free version). Once I built my stations the algorithm did the rest. Yes I gear commercials but I've found if I don't switch stations, skip songs, etc.. after about the 1st hour I might hear one commercial every 2 hrs. Also found if I thumbs up songs it's also less likely to play commercials.

I use Brilliant smart home control panels and Pandora works very well with them.

streaming services don't do me much good because I don't listen to much current mainstream stuff.

I mostly just do random play on my CD collection that I have digitized. My brother came up with this idea - get an old phone and save all your CDs on it. Use it for your personal jukebox.

Pandora does OK, but their playlist isn't very expansive for the artists I like, seems like same 10 or 12 songs over and over, they don't do much on the deep cuts. But it is passable for when I'm outside needing some tunes off the back porch. Their ads aren't that intrusive.

I've been listening to it for 20+ years. Songs are picked out by the owners, not me. Good mix of old and new without over playing the old. Very little country, rap or hip hop or head banging metal. Love their online play list with song and artist info and the comments from listeners.

It's also available on ROKU. They have a wonderful slideshow you can display on TV while you listen.
