national relevance, what can we do to get there? I mean besides the obvious. I'm sure it's being discussed that $2M raise for BB will all of a sudden allow us to beat the More Head States of the world.

Imagine if people that supported our program acted like the haters. What if we spammed every basketball post with all our good wins?
What if we credited Brownell with every single win and every other positive aspect of this program?
Sounds insane right? Luckily most supporters are a lot more grounded and a lot less insane.

Oddly it is probably exactly the opposite of who you would say. Because people hellbent on keeping Brad Brownell despite 13 years of evidence to the contrary are the ones that must hate Clemson Men's Basketball. I love Clemson Men's Basketball, and would love for it to be nationally relevant. Are you the hater you speak of?

Strange that this topic has been discussed a thousand times on T-net (no one said to pay CBB more money) and you missed all of those threads.

Please post proof that somebody said that simply raising brownell's salary without doing anything else would result in more wins.

You seem to have missed the context. We have always made value hires for basketball staff and assistants until recently. As we have seen with football and baseball, hiring top notch assistants and staff is a key success factor. Nobody (other than a troll) wants to pay CBB more money believing it would lead to more success. If we make a head coaching change, we need to go big like baseball so instead of hiring a Lee hoping for the best we need to go big by hiring a Bakich. We need to be committed to success in basketball like we are in baseball and football.

You have a gross misunderstanding about Clemson’s coaching hires. All sports have traditionally made “value hires” (to use your term). Who was our splash head coach hire in football? Tommy Bowden? He was a hot name for people looking for an up and comer. He was not a “major hire”. Rick Barnes was certainly more high profile, relatively speaking. We didn’t start spending big money on assistants in football until we started winning big. Basketball needs a coach with a vision that can elevate the program then dictate to the athletic department what is necessary to continue to improve or maintain excellence. Success in sports is the lifeblood of major universities these days. Dabo’s current contract has already paid 10 fold return to the University with nearly a billion in capital investment committed since 2016. Basketball could offer the same.

Brownell Bros argue that our program is woefully underfunded. That it is unfair to Brownell for us to have higher aspirations while working at such profound competitive disadvantages. Yet, the fact is, the head coach salary is the number one expense of any Power 5 basketball program. Brownell, over 13 years, has managed to turn that meager support into a top 40 salary while actually achieving a Top 40 team - twice? What no Bro has ever been able to answer is what has he been denied? What assistant did he turn away? What specific thing that Brownell needed has be been denied? When pomp and circumstance was made last year about a higher budget for better assistants he went out and got two guys that were some of his earliest assistants. You are going to convince me that he couldn’t have hired them at any point in his tenure. He is a man without a plan who has no idea what he needs to win more - because the losses that hold his team back are against teams that he has tremendous advantages over. He’s just a mediocre coach.

Clemson will never be relevant on a national level as long as CBB is the head coach. I know there are members of the "lunatic fringe" who wholeheartedly disagree with that assessment, but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I have twelve years of largely mediocre and inconsistent results to support my position.

for nearly 30 years. This year will be the first time in nearly three decades that I will not purchase basketball season tickets. I definitely do not hate Clemson basketball. What I hate is the University's indifferent or dispassionate approach to dealing with a head coach who has more than proven over time that he is not the man that can take the program to the next level.

I used to fight tooth and nail to find every game and I just don’t anymore. Too many getting my hopes up to be slammed back down again under Nrad. How some continue to not only blindly follow but to be so adamant that he’s the best thing and then even more to trash our football team is mind boggling. I admire you for keeping your season tickets this long.
