Gamechicken buddy of mine went to Omaha for the finals against Arizona. During the day they went and checked out the swimming time trials got bored and were heading back to their hotel. They passed by the team hotel and OBS was standing out front, my buddy says to him "Hey Coach how about a picture?" OBS looks dead at him and says "Don't bother me" and turns around and walks off. Needless to say my buddy was/still is highly p!ssed.
What made the whole story all the more sweeter was when my buddy said to me "Dabo wouldn't have done that!"

Not at all stunned that the jerk said what he did to your friend. I am surprised your friend said something positive about Dabo. I am sure there are some classy coots out there, but they stay well hidden. Your friend should learn a lesson from that.

That shows poor judgement, but at least he was polite. That is a nice surprise. So many of them don't have that quality.

Last year, by coincidence, I ended up at the same hotel as the team before a game. I had my family plus 3 foster children - all teenage girls. They have pictures with nearly every player. Every coach. Including Dabo and Chad. That made their YEAR! They still talk about it with their friends.
I asked Coach Morris if the girls were a bother, and he said, "No. Let them have a little fun."

Dabo tracked some folks down at Disney World a few weeks ago just because they were wearing Clemson shirts. He said he was delighted to see them repping the Tigers and gladly took pictures with them. It just shows the completely different attitude between CDS and SOS.

Two years ago, the weekend where we retired CJ's #. My wife bumped into Dabo at the fast station. Dabo and I have a mutual friend. I introduced myself and as we were talking a Clemson fan approached and asked Dabo to take a picture. Dabo said absolutely. I took the picture for the fan. He thanked Dabo and went on his way. I talked with Dabo for another minute. Then Dabo walked over by my car and spoke to my wife and daughter. My daughter said, "hey coach, this is CJ" (pointing to her Clemson teddy bear). He was as nice as he could be.

That is the kind of S O B that thinks his chit don't stink, but everybody else's does. That is direct disrespect, and I don't have a clue of how the guy didn't disrespect spur right back. I just don't see how another man can let himself be disrespected like that for free. Ohhhh H&ll no!!!

I think Dabo is probably a nicer guy than Steve. I wouldn't trade, though. I have no desire to meet and greet with either of them.

I dont doubt Dabo would not have done that. He does seem to take the time with fans like Tanner does. I spoke to Tanner on the phone once at a part time job I had. He really is that nice.
SOS is different from most coaches. I have no doubt he would of said 'not now'... he is like that. but i have had friends run into him and he will talk to them for 10 minutes... it just depends on his mood and what he is doing. He was not always like that from what i hear at UF, but think how many people come up to him in the last 25 years or more? and think about how much dislike folks have around the SEC for him. Hell, my Godfather asked for his autograph and he said no.... he didnt get pissed or act like a ##### about. just understands thats how he is sometimes.

It is my understanding that when he does his show in Cola at Wild Wings that they tell the customers before OBS comes in not to talk to him or bother him, or ask for anything from him. He just wants to come in and out and not actually toak to any fans.

I don't mean to defend a Chicken, but to be fair, introverted people are absolutely exhausted by having to talk to a bunch of people they don't know. Perhaps he is an introvert. Granted, he might have been more polite, but some of us just aren't wired to be outgoing and "chipper" around people we don't know. Rudeness certainly isn't a function of introvert / extrovert, but just having to deal with a bunch of "strangers" can get an introvert in a bad mood and make him or her more apt to be rude. That certainly isn’t an excuse, but it may make it harder for him. On the other hand, he may just be a rude guy. Either way, I do think it is fair to bash him for being a Chicken.
If I was a betting man, I'd say a personality test from Dabo would indicate he is very extroverted. That does happen to be an advantage as a football coach. I think we see it playing well in recruiting and relationships with fans. I’m glad he is our coach.
