Well unlike Clemson Penn State replaced their DC with another proven DC, who some would argue is better than Tom Allen.

Penn St replaced their DC with tOSU national championship team's Defensive Coordinator last year in Jim Knowles. Even though Tom Allen is a massive upgrade for us, PSU's folks consider Knowles to be at worst a wash maybe even an improvement.

Yeah but they didn't replace him with someone who'd never even been a position coach, much less coordinator. Major schools dont usually do something that stupid because they don't have to.

Semifinals last year and return a lot including two of the best RBs in CFB. If this year ends up being like last year where there's no super team(s), Penn State probably has as good of a shot as anyone.

It’s not, PSU’s high preseason ranking is objectively reasonable. Like Clemson, they return a veteran QB and they have a proven star running back. They also upgraded their WRs with the portal.
For some reason a lot of people think PSU is perpetually a top 15 team at best. This is due to James Franklin’s underperformance against OSU and Michigan. Also some other people can’t get over Jerry Sandusky jokes from 15 years ago and somehow that means that the current 2025 PSU team is a fraud.
It reminds me how people troll OSU with “O-31-0” like we blew them out one time almost a decade ago so therefore OSU can never be good even when they are objectively good and they were the best team in football last year.

I think they definitely will not be as good as last year on the defensive side but I think there schedule is pretty weak.
