We know they want Tillman Hall etc renamed, but some of these are bogus.
A multicultural center for minorities?
For the percentage of colored professors to represent the amount of minority professors?
When did a professor ever get hired for his skin color instead of their accolades?
To put it bluntly about these demands:

They're young, so they're prone to do/say dumb things. But, their demands are ridiculous.
Tillman Hall? White-washing history isn't a good idea, ever.
Multicultural Center? We're either all American's/Tigers, or we're not. Further secularizing minorities isn't going to make them feel "included".
Professors? The Best candidate for the job deserves the job, regardless of color. Institutionalized racism is not the answer. What an ironic, un-American request considering our history.
As an employer, I'd find a list of the signees and would never hire anybody on it. Good luck, these kids are in for a rough life.

So changing it to Tillman whitewashed the history of the main building. So stop white washing history and change it back to the main building. Hope you notice the irony in your comment, you claim changing the name would be white washing history when the name is that of a the building is currently named after a white supremacist. So it has been plenty white washed

and has been for years.
I worked there for 13 years (90's-2000's). All is not perfect, but it's still a great place to go to school AND to work (if you just don't want to leave, lol).

Let me explain.
We have lots of rights in America. One right NOT enumerated is a "right to be offended". Being offended is a personal choice.
As a Clemson grad I get sick and tired of a vocal MINORITY constantly whining and nit-picking the University. Being "offended" is synonymous with being a crybaby. Crybabies got beat up a lot when I was a kid, and nobody liked them.
In 2016 crybabies are now the "offended" (this is the adult version of a crybaby). They're running amuck in America bullying anybody that doesn't agree with them by using words like "racist, bigot, homophobe", etc... to silence the opposition. They hide behind police protection, attorneys, and the threat of lawsuits.
Most of them just need a good butt-kicking, because the majority of Clemson grads don't like them and don't want them anywhere near our campus. They're not welcome.

Harvey Gantt Hall. I think if we did something big and symbolic like this, the rest of these issues could go away. We don't want a Missouri situation here.
Tillman was a leader in our state who led the charge against blacks with murder and intimidation.
Strom Thurmond on the other hand, was a segregationist like practically every white person then but he didn't lead the charge with murders and intimidation like Tillman did.

The more of these centers that pop up, the more staff you end up hiring to create programs designed to not only help students with legitimate grievances, but to actually teach theories that encourage students to see themselves as aggrieved victims in nearly every situation. You basically end up paying people to create s more divisive campus environment.

Nothing that opposes open expression of differing viewpoints should be sanctioned by a school. Nothing that encourages a departure from rational dialectic should ever be sanctioned either. And nothing that encourages unequal treatment of students based on race, religion or sex should be allowed either.

my answer is very simple. In this country we have the freedom to move about as we see fit. If these protestors find Clemson not to be of their liking, they are free to leave and go to another school that they feel is b better suited to their needs. I, for one, am sick and tired of all this crap. Clemson is a fine, fine school and if one finds it not to their liking--leave!!

Does this mean that we might actually recruit at least ONE TOKEN WHITE to play on our BBall team? I haven't seen a WHITE player on our BBall team in years. Very few on our Football team. I guess we have 3-4 more years before it's ALL BLACK too.
So - are WHITE people going to be given any equal opportunities at CLEMSON?
Is the Black race the ONLY race that complains about their color? I never see any other race complain, so I'm curious if it's ever going to stop.
