Congress is letting the social media execs have it, especially Zuckerberg. Thoughts? Seems to be a fairly bipartisan ### reaming. Graham told them they have "blood on their hands".

when everyone was socially and sexually represented, teenage girls' opinions were ignored, as well as women in general, and physical bullying was considered a societal norm ftowards those who did not conform.

Per my post the other day, almost every single serial killer was a baby boomer, there are none in Gen Z. Baby Boomers were far more violent and incarcerated at a much higher rate., Gen z is not. Baby Boomers had far more abortions, divorces, teenage pregnancies, and rates of alcoholism. The numbers are far lower for gen Z. I think we are referencing a lot of tropes that are patently false when it comes to the difference between generations. We are far better off now.

I cannot argue against it, I remember when kids used to play outdoors and did not have to dress in a suit of armor to ride their bikes. If anything, I blame this on irrational fear and tribalism. We are far more divided now. Covid had a hand here as well, curious what the stats were begfore the lockdowns, because I think this is a more recent trend and not isolated to one generation.

And If 28% identify as LGBT, they are lying or confused. And I am too busy at work for a nature-nurture debate. They'll figure themselves out.

There have always been transsexuals. Difference is today they expect you to pretend they are the opposite gender and want the govt to fine/imprison you if you midgender them, as is already happening in other countries. Add in the lefts sudden unquenchable desire to trans kids, without parental involvement or consent, and you've reached the unprecedented aspect of today's reality. Never have we been mutilating kids because mommy is a nut job and needs some social validation, but we sure as #### are doing it today.

there are some really good studies linking amount of time spent on social media directly correlating to increased risk for anxiety and depression. Right now I am seeing/treating/referring more adolescents for those conditions many times over the rate that I was say 10 years ago. Part of that well may be due to increased recognition. Other factors that are my own bias probably contribute, but won't go into that here.
My overall take is currently resources are severely lacking to take on the workload of the current state of Gen Z mental health. I would say it is tied right now with pediatric obesity as the co #1 biggest problems in adolescent health, maybe passed to sole ownership

When you get the phone, set them up a child's Apple ID that rolls to yours, and lock that ish down using the parental controls.

From there, you only have a year or two to fight them on getting social media if you want to wait till high school.

I'd still love that they didn't have it in high school but that just unrealistic in my estimation, but no joke, I think kids in a pack reach peak psychopath/a-hole/byatch in middle school, so if they just are out of that mix altogether, life is a lot easier.
