exchange VT for Miami

IMO

That is the most likely scenario. Those are the schools

(other than Notre Dame) that bring the most to a renegotiated TV contract. That's the name of the game. Plus Ga Tech bring a little more academic panache than does Clemson (and a lot more than does FSU). Window dressing perhaps, but administrators, faculty and even some alumni care about that sort of thing.

Would I rather see Va Tech than Miami? Yes. They are better folks with better football. I think Miami brings more $ to the table with better academic reputation. That's hard to beat.

If Notre Dame goes Big 12, then all bets are off. Pitt is a player, perhaps even Penn State. Maybe you take Va Tech instead of Miami (or maybe even instead of Clemson) because at that point you are rolling in money - Colombian cartel kind of cash.

Pitt a bigger player than you think... may not get in....

but I would give them a better shot than UM right now

Any truth to the rumor that Miami is not even being

considered by the Big XII, or has no interest in the Big XII, or both?

I really don't know... I don't know as much as some think...

The last I heard UM mentioned... they were not interested. However, a lot has happened since then, and they may be warmer now.

GT changed their tune.

I really don't know about UM.

Purely speculation on my part....

May 21, 2012, 12:03 PM [ in reply to Any truth to the rumor that Miami is not even being ]

but the initial reports were that Miami didn't seem to be interested in a move. The word was that Miami was planning on reducing its emphasis on football in light of the impending NCAA sanctions.

However, that was before last Friday's announcement.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
