Any prospects at UAB for CU?

Dec 3, 2014, 11:30 AM

Not sure if Germans but...

Are there any potential prospects that we could bring in from UAB? I don't follow that program too closely and was wondering if anyone had any insight.

“I love this place. I’ve got a spot already picked out where I want ‘em to put me when I die…up there on there on that ole hill near the stadium. I want to be there so I can hear all them people cheering my Tigers on Saturdays. Then I wont have to go to heaven. I’ll already be there.”-Frank Howard

Has to be some OL

That can give us depth.

I'd like to have their HC Bill Clark on the defensive staff, but no room.

Wasnt he in the running for our DC job

Before we hired BV?

He might be coaching next year in our Thanksgiving WE game

I can't imagine that Ward will be usc-e's DC next season. Ellis Johnson is a good coach and also a possibility. We'll get to watch an interesting game of musical coaching jobs over the next few months.

Probably not....

most of the players who will have any eligibility left after this season or the current commitments were either 2-star rated prospects or completely unranked.

There would also likely be some adademic transfer issues.

Yes, NorthAlabama

He was up for our DC job.

All we need them for would be depth

Wouldnt expect any to be major contributors

i guess you people maybe dont realize we have "zero" numbers left. we are going to have trouble getting in the guys we are still recruiting. minor detail i know.

You dont seem to understand the minor details of kids

Transferring and declaring for the draft. We will have some spots open up. *as far as the draft is concerned, the only one I see declaring right now is Battle. Which would mean a UAB OL could help us with depth...

Unless he's got academic problems, I don't see Battle jumping for the league early. If he sticks around and has a productive senior season, he could be in for a big paycheck. If he leaves now, he'll struggle to make a team. If he comes back and has a mediocre year, he'll be in that same situation, though.

I'd say that Reader's also a potential early departure, but I don't think he'll make the move either. He's going to get a ton more playing time as a senior, and his draft stock has to increase significantly as a result. Same thing with Lawson.

What we don't know is whether there are guys thinking about leaving for spots other than the NFL. Not being there every day for practice, we have almost no idea of who's buried way deep on the depth chart and who's on the verge of getting significant PT. I can't think of a better example than Reid Webster. From a distance, it looked like he was glued to the bench, but in reality, he was right there and ended up being a key versatile player when we needed him most. Right now, we don't know whether someone like Oliver Jones or Spencer Region is the guy almost ready for prime time, or the guy who might decide that dropping football in favor of other priorities is what makes sense for him.

Next year, however, we might see more guys thinking about an earlier departure for the league; Alexander, Lawson, Williams, and Kearse come to mind, but there could be others.

UAB has some real big boys on their roster. Don't know if they can play but they have size!
