They could even form an alliance to take the top six teams and insert two additional games in Tuscaloosa and Austin with UGA going to Austin and FSU going to Tuscaloosa. Winners to the CFP and losers to the Orange bowl.

It doesn't really fix this year but it would give each of the top six an opportunity to back up their argument. The fix for this year would have been a statement in the CFP criteria that stated that all undefeated conference champions make the CFP unless there are five undefeated champions. Statements like this and any other controls which objectively lock teams into positions have always been avoided in college football so those "in charge" could choose or at least greatly influence the teams they wanted to be in position for championships. For nine years the CFP got it mostly right but now we are fully back to a mythical national championship. If FSU finds a way to beat UGA I hope voters in polls that are not related to the CFP have the cojones to vote FSU #1.

At least we can hope to get six or eight of the most deserving teams into the playoff going forward...

The perfect storm hit the CFP this year. I log jam of undefeated and one loss teams vying for four slots. One school, one conference was going to be out once UGA lost. The twelve-team format will help going forward. However, mismatches will continue to happen as in the past like UGA and TCU last year. TV ratings are likely to suffer if opt outs and transfers materially impact the bowl games which seem likely now. In the NFL, this does not happen. The current college professional system is problematic. Not only will schools be left less competitive, but also financially strapped. Can one expect collectives to supply an ever-ending supply of money to less successful teams? What about the on-going $1.4B lawsuit (damaged are tripled to $4.2B) against the P5 and NCAA? The CA court does not recognize the NCAA's amateurism argument given NIL. Next step is employee status, unions, universal healthcare and revenue sharing. Game over!
