Per ESPN it sounds like it
"The decision to step down was Clawson's, sources told ESPN, as he felt like it was time. Sources compared the decision to recent moves made by Virginia basketball coach Tony Bennett and former Washington football coach Chris Petersen, who both stepped away in part because of the changing era in the sport."

Solid Div. 1 HC who got the most out of what he had. You all are right about the Transfer Portal. No way at Wake he could have survived it. The writing was on the wall for him.

Man, I will miss him. He’s one of the few coaches that you know is a great guy and if you were going to lose a game during the season you’d rather it be to his team than any other team. Hopefully he enjoys his administrative role and can continue to influence the next generation of young men!
Go Tigers!

Wow, I always liked Clawson and thought he was a lot like Jim Grobe. Both got a lot out of a little.
I wouldn't be surprised if they go hire another HC of that same ilk, professional, likeable, does a lot with a little.

I feel like Wake always punched above their weight with him
He made Sam Hartman look like a legitimate NFL QB (which he is not)
