Was a prime target of ours. Not saying we will or should go after. With the incoming OU transfer, a 5 star HS signee, and Freeze still apparently looking at other transfers, doesn’t look like White wants to wait around and see how things shakeout.

yes i noticed his name in the portal the other night, he was pretty high ranked, favored us until he chose auburn, walker white a very clemson sort of name.

Nope.
At this point Dabo has decided not to use the portal. Which I respect a man who stands by his beliefs, don’t necessarily think it’s wise to not use the portal if your going to lose players to it, but that’s the stance he’s taken.
Dabo will look like he’s caved and the last 3 or 4 years of suffering with lack of talent at certain positions( zero depth at RB, DE, previous years at WR) was for nothing.
Just live or die with the decisions he’s made and we’ll go from there

I don’t know why everything has to be black/white on this topic.
Being selective for a certain type of player or skill level, and then having that player not want the package that’s being offered to them is not the same as outright never choosing to engage. The net effect is the same, but life is way more nuanced than I see a lot of folks wanting it to be.

The ratings are based on numbers & stars. We are in the top twenty or close to top ten in average stars per recruit. We don't need many players this year.

I guess you missed the part where we replaced five of them. 17 was our target. We signed 15. Dabo is exploring the portal for 2. Elementary math is a beautiful thing.

Beyond the impact of a general falling off of our recruiting, what really bothers me is the fact that South Carolina seems to be getting a lot better in their recruiting. I thought that Shane Beamer would be around for a few years and move on like so many of their coaches, but it seems like he is getting a little too comfortable to suit me. My thinking may be too "local", but our rivalry with South Carolina means more to me than some of the larger goals. My point is that I hope Dabo is watching this trend, and will do whatever it takes to maintain our "Big Brother" status.
By the way, I was a Clemson freshman in 1959. So, please don't start with the coot talk. Yes, this is my second post...I was an active member under another name for some years, but probably because I am so old, I forgot my password and stated over...just want to take the high road!

comes to OL, specifically OTs and WRs. They not only beat us for their services, they also happened to be national recruits. The standard alibi for their instate recruiting victories of late has been something to the effect that a family member is a lifelong GC fan. In most cases they offered over a year before we did as did Georgia, this is never mentioned.

S.Carolina has been recruiting quite well for several consecutive years. They’ve also reaped several high quality players from the portal during these years.
Yet, their consistency has been all over the yard during this time. What gives?
Here’s what gives:
S.Carolina loses star players left and right every year. Even moreso with key backups. There is obviously a deficiency in team unity at S.Carolina.
S.Carolina is a destination for achieving short term individual goals for transfer players. The transfer players at S.Carolina join an environment where many other players share each other’s short term individual goals. ‘Let’s work hard so that each successive year is better than the last.’ That does not seem to be a widely held goal for many of their starters, given how common it is for their star players to bolt Columbia and finish their college careers elsewhere. There’s group reinforcement among the teammates that this ‘transferring to get a better deal next year’ is the thing to do.
Back to their recruiting success (as far as numbers). S.Carol8na loses more players than we do each year. Even for those who had not transferred out before the HS recruiting class had been signed, Beamer knows that numerous other ‘surprise’ departures are in store for him. Why should he not anticipate such an event? It’s happened each year he’s been the Head Cuck in Columbia.
