Make no mistake, Clemson is & will continue to compete nationally on a financial level including with the #1-rated funding arm in college sports & an explicit pledge to match the projected annual pay-for-play budget outright (projected at $20.5m annually).

It’s not an unfair one. You can’t change it because it’s already happened. We can improve though a start an upward trend.

By their narrative they have 6 SEC teams in their top 10, and that looks to be quite bias IMO!!! Hey but could we actually see those homers being any different than they really are?

Obed is correct. Listen and read what he's saying. He didn't say anything about this being a pre-season ranking. He stated up front this was a previous 4 year rolling average. 11 isn't bad. Give me one other acc team that deserves to be in the top 12 based off their past 4 seasons? You can't. I think it's very generous actually. And, Dabo proved it right. Hence, he's made the changes.

I understand preseason rankings are just a guess at best and put out there to stimulate excitement and conversation prior to the upcoming season.

Of course prior to the beginning of the season anything could happen such as injuries, family issues, sickness or trouble with the law (think Georgia here) or other unknown issues.

Personally I don't think any team should be preseason ranked. After the first week of the season then let the ranking begin.

Until then, GO TIGERS

I think his analysis is pretty spot on and said not predictive. Honestly the fact we did ok with DJU at quarterback who destroyed FSU's program is a relief. I think this year we will be a top 4 team with shot at a title.

My only question is which coach forced an injured Mafah to play when he was a detriment to the team (due to injury), it both hurt the team and had chance to permanently end his career.

Just for the record, this isn't a pre-season ranking but more of an overall position of the program overall nationally.

Clemvol, this is not a pre-season ranking. He explains up front it's based off the last 4 years of performance.

For what it's worth, he only seems to do "ratings" rather than rankings, & will likely again have Clemson in the top-8 it sounds like for things like returning production, talent & schedule.

I’m okay with top 12…. And look at the company we keep.
As we stay in the same conversation with the team on his list, I’m happy with our program.
If we avoid injuries and other unforeseen issues, we will be in the conversation at the end of the year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Again, its not a preseason rank.

Clemson is the best program in college football! And Dabo is the best coach in college football!

These talking heads are all about getting clicks, and propping up their cash cows in the SEC and B1G. That's why they don't pick us for the national championship. That, plus they are jealous of Dabo and our program! Otherwise, how could they possibly have anything bad to say?!?

But that's fine!! We don't listen to anyone we wouldn't take advice from! We are little 'ol Clemson! We do better as the underdog anyway! Fire up the ROY Bus!

I'm not sure I understand. Other national sports voices are (again) literally picking Clemson to contend for the national championship. We don't notice or listen to those articles & stories I think is all, or at best we certainly don't engage with them in Clemson nation. We need the bait. We need to be angry, it seems like.

Even this, it's a top-12 list but, as predicted in the comments when the video aired 3 days ago, we later labeled it "outside the top-10" & voila, the anger & the fury.

I suppose the ultimate irony is how many of them including Pate actually like Clemson & Coach Swinney & have made some fantastic content here (rather than hate for clicks, so to speak).

Would Pate make the top 10? Most likely not. Even with our perceived recent shortcomings, it looks like we are tied for 5th most overall wins in the last 5 years. Wins and losses matter most. In the immortal words of Bill Parcells, "You are what your record says you are."

I don’t really have anything against this after reading the actual article. He’s very clear this is a backward looking trend analysis and not a forward one. I’d love to hear the arguments from the last 4-5 years that says we are better than 10 to 11? Forward looking I think it’s much better.

If based on last 4 years I'll take 11th. Although LSU did have a losing season if taken into account the four previous years. Granted they looked good last year. The three national championship winners are deserving of their spots. Runner ups as well. The rest could be grouped any different way and it wouldn't make much difference. We can definitely change that narrative this year though. Go Tigers!

The original video first aired 3 days ago & someone predicted in the comments Clemson nation would label it "outside the top-ten" for a top-12 list & here we are.

I hate we can be so predictable sometimes at creating & taking the bait at the same time. Gonna be a fun year regardless, for sure. Go Tigers!

I’m gonna put Josh Pate just outside the top 25 analyst at number 30. That means there are 29 sports analyst better than him. Sorry Josh, but I’ve never heard of you until Tigernet posts your skewed views on the Clemson Tigers. Do you have a national show? Is it on ESPN or Maybe the You Tube channel. Have you ever attended a Clemson game live? I’ll be you a dollar that Clemson beats LSU by two touchdowns in the first game of 2025.

He did some great stuff here, including with Coach Swinney & has some explicitly great things to say outright for years now (yes, including live games, absolutely)

I think we just don't see, promote or engage with the good stuff when people say it, & we exacerbate everything else now is all.
