College Football Playoff Special on ESECPN last night
Oct 26, 2022, 8:39 AM
|
|
Spent what seemed like 30 minutes saying:
"If TCU and Clemson both go undefeated, TCU will pass Clemson"
Then, at the very end, took about 5 seconds to say
"Both TCU and Clemson are in if they go undefeated, because a 1 loss Michigan isn't getting in"
Anyjuan else catch this diatribe ?

Yes, and was surprised Herbie had us ranked 7th, behind Bama. If we continue to improve on offense and win out, the rest will take care of itself.

I watch the show and am glad that my team is being talked about this late in the season by the “ Experts”,
Clemson is amazing. They aren’t great . All they do is WIN!

Not sure why anyone would watch a propaganda show. They should have Baghdad Bob as a guest on the show.

I’m glad I missed it. Heather Dinnich was on Get Up or some show with her bracket and it was:
1. OSU 2. UGA (these two might be switched) 3. Tenn 4. Oregon (!?!) 5. Michigan 6. Alabama
No mention of Clemson in those minutes. Kind of ridiculous, it was cooler when these people valued their credibility

Next week, when we are 4th in the first poll, they will lose their minds…

Our schedule to this point, is stronger than the other undefeated teams, with the exception of Tennessee. By the end, the other schedules may catch up. But to date, our top 25 wins exceed the likes of Ohio St & Michigan. TCU is living on borrowed time. Tennessee has a case for number 1 if they beat Kentucky this week. UGA is living off the Oregon win while they beat up on the SEC East. Again, based on performance to this point…not based on what might happen in the weeks to come. I think the committee will see our ranked wins and put us at 4…Michigan will probably be 5. Currently our ranked wins are holding up…Ohio State’s best win over Notre Dame hasn’t held up, but they will be in top 4 after they beat Penn St. I believe NC State will win at home over VT to stay ranked. Wake keeps rolling. Unsure about the Cuse due to history…we’ll see if they don’t let us beat them twice….but it’s likely that all 3 of our ranked wins will still make the first playoff poll….they will look in vain to find more ranked wins for Ohio St & Michigan & even TCU, but they won’t find them.

What he essentially is trying to say is that TCU should get the nod before Clemson in the event they both go undefeated. He's attempting to say it without angering the Clemson fan base ( IMO ). Using the Massy Index let's explore the numbers.
Massey rankings for each conference member
ACC
GT - 83 WF - 14 NCST - 22 BC - 103 FSU - 28 SYR - 16
TOTAL OF TEAMS CLEMSON HAS PLAYED TO DATE 266 FOR AN AVERAGE RANKING OF 45
YET TO BE PLAYED
LOUISVILLE -42 MIAMI - 89
TOTAL - 131 + 266 ( FROM ABOVE ) 397 FOR AN
AVERAGE OF 50
BIG 12 OK -33 OKST - 10 KANSAS - 40 KST -20 TOTAL TCU HAS PLAYED TO DATE 103 FOR AN AVERAGE OF 26
YET TO BE PLAYED WVA -74 TT - 29 TEXAS - 17 BAYLOR - 37 IOWA ST - 45 TOTAL - 202 + 103 ( FROM ABOVE ) 305 FOR AN AVERAGE OF 34 He has a point just looking the numbers. In my opinion I think it is doubtful that TCU runs the table. They have to travel to Texas where I believe they will suffer a loss.
