Is that what we're beating our chests about now? The ACC is the worst P5 conference. We could join the AAC if we're content beating ####### opponents. We were 0-3 against FBS out of conference teams this year.

We’re also the worst (or next to worst depending if you like NET or RPI) power 5 basketball conference but there is considerable chest beating going on there.

Not sure I’m beating my chest but pretty #### proud of it. Hope we win 50 more. Beats losing the championship. We are where we are at the moment might as well try to keep winning the #### thing.
Congrats on the -47.
Doesn’t your team still have the 69 ACC championship still hung up in the stadium?

Yeah, good luck with calling me a Gamecock. I went to Clemson, which we know you didn't. Lived in Holmes. I was there from 2009-2013, when we lost to the Coots every year. Doesn't mean I'm content with getting whipped by the big boys when we're outspending all of them. Some people like you who are content with losing in their every day life are also content losing football games we shouldn't.

@TigerPride97
Well you definitely have a GC mentality and how do you know where I went to school? Constantly bitching about it is counter productive and makes you sound like some bandwagon fan. You think guaranteed money equals playoffs every year. Sorry bud things don’t happen like that. We have had a great run over the last 10 years and whining and complaining about something you have no control over is useless.

I admit there were no elite teams in the ACC this year, but

from top to bottom, the ACC was better than most. There were seven different ACC teams ranked a some point in the CFP rankings this year! Not in some pre-season or early season AP poll, but in the CFP ranking!

9 more years on a 10 year guaranteed deal remain. Only way he would likely leave early is if another team was willing to pay him more than his 11.5 million average salary AND cover the buyout. His value is trending down not up. NFL has 0 interest. By the time Saban leaves he will have likely strung together more 10 win seasons and a couple ACC championships. I think I have a better chance of becoming an astronaut than Dabo has of being offered equivalent money. He was compensated for past performance and recent performance has tailed off. IMO he will be at Clemson until he retires from coaching.

It's a ridiculous take to say Dabo is "trending down"..
Jan 7, 2023, 2:42 PM
|
|
In spite of the major issue being completely obvious for two years, we still found a way to win 21 games while finishing in the top 14 for two "subpar" seasons. In spite of not being a playoff team, Dabo (by facts and relative measures) remains the 2nd most accomplished coach since he was hired and of course the CFP era. Anyone, other than some spoiled rotten Clemson fans, would absolutely love to have a man like Dabo build their programs.
This isn't the stock market. Dabo is not "trending down".
Our program is in great hands. You act like Dabo isnt earning his pay and we need a better coach. Youre seriously trying to suggest Dabo's market value is going down, simply because we're "only" in the top 14 the last two seasons. That's ridiculous.
We have a QB now, and every facet of the program will be on the rise back to the playoffs.

I'm fine with it. Dabo's the second highest paid coach in college football at almost $12 million a year. He makes more than Kirby Smart and Ryan Day. We spent $60 million on a state of the art football facility for him. That's money that comes entirely from fans and taxpayers. We can and should be appreciative for what he's done for Clemson in the last 15 years. But you also have to be accountable if you're going to take a salary like that. He always said best was the standard and wanted to be held accountable to that. No one's paying for him to walk down the hall and hire the first friend he sees who's reading a bible. We should demand he act as a CEO and make the necessary changes to make Clemson an elite program in today's CFB world. Because right now, we have fallen from being arguably the #1 program in 2018 to not even top 10 today.

Read the contract. Dabo is in charge and will do as he pleases. There will be no demands by anyone other than some fans on this board.

I for one have thought Dabo was doing a fantastic job in all aspects of running the program, until the last two years… he does seem to be in a “reward my friends by hiring them” mood. I’m sure it won’t be long and his sons will be coaching. The lack of experience of the staff is catching up with us, it may not get better anytime soon

Well I guess we should have just offered him no increase and a year to year deal. This deal was to keep him based on past performance. Fairly certain he works his ### off even though he is not currently where he or we want to be.
Blessed to have been alive to live through 3 national championships even though 81 is a little fuzzy. Dabo has taken this program higher than it ever has been. He may know best how to build it but still trying to figure out how to maintain it. We always seemed to do better when we were overlooked. Now since the championships we are definitely not being overlooked and seem to have experienced a dry spell when it comes to beating your consistent top 10 teams. OSU, LSU, GA and now Tenn.

No, it was going to be a 10 year deal. As for the money, his lawyers squeezed every single dime they could out of the University. There was a party BTW when that contract got done (small town, you know). You can figure out who was celebrating (not University employees). The dry spell is directly related to the players and coaches on the field. Cade will need to pull a rabbit out of a hat to win the ACC next year with the line he will have to work behind and the scheme (not screen) the Tigers will be running. If anyone thinks our recruiting and coaching is trending up then I would say they are mistaken IMO. No evidence at this point to show that anything is changing although it is possible. He's got 9 more years so it doesn't need to happen all at once.

Lol. Ultimatum for what? Winning another ACC title? Another 10, I mean 11 win season?
You all must be in your 20s-30s. No other explanation for this type of behavior.

5 years from now when we are stuck with 5 more season of $12 million ---this years contract extension will be seen as one of the biggest mistakes in NCAA history. We are up a creek and the program is on a major slide
