America was subjected to another tragic injustice today

May 8, 2013, 9:24 PM

when fox news was not permitted to testify at the congressional oversight hearing pertaining to Benghazi. For 6 months their top rate sleuthing and investigative journalism has uncovered a treasure trove of clandestine whitehouse crimes, yet they were not permitted to reveal their finding on the in the capital building this afternoon.

Instead, we were forced to listen to boring facts from the DOJ employees, witnesses to the event, as well as emails sent to the white house in the following days.

I never said I did, but I am still waiting for the impeachment of Barry and Clinton's political career to be left in ruin. That is all the crap the wing nuts have been posting for the last 6 months.

because if you did, you would have learned some interesting details.

Regardless of your political leanings, if you aren't at least concerned with what happened in Benghazi and how the administration handled it and the inconsistencies brought up in the hearing today, then you're an idiot.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Re: And sky is blue :)***

May 8, 2013, 10:31 PM

From what I can tell (bear in mind I've paid nearly zero attention), the worst possible scenario is that the administration could've done better, and lied about what they knew about their screwup in order to protect the president's campaign.

Is that right?

Well...in previous congressional testimony, it was said....

May 8, 2013, 10:40 PM

that the security team in Tripoli was not told to "stand down". Testimony today seemed to contradict that.

The admin and military officials also previously stated that there were no options to get help to the consulate in time to help. That was also brought into doubt.

To mean the quote from the Lt. Col. in charge of the security team about "for the first time the diplomats had more balls than the military" and the fact that they were furious that they were told to stand down was enlightening and not contained in the review board findings.

There's a fair bit more, but my point is that it was far from a "waste of time" or strictly political in nature.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not sure if that was a yes or a no.***

It was neither...

May 8, 2013, 11:50 PM

I think the hearings have illustrated that there is more to the story than we've been lead to believe....or at the very least, there is more to learn and see where it leads.

If you want to know, listen to the testimony and questioning from today for yourself. I will say, that after listening to the testimony directly for a couple of hours earlier today and listen listening to the coverage on all sides tonight...that it reinforced my long held belief in watching/listening to c-span if you really want the less-filtered "truth".

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: It was neither...

May 9, 2013, 6:47 AM

This sort of vague nothingness is the reason I don't bother to pay attention. You heard the questioning and admit you have no answers. I assume I'd end up in the same place, which is why I won't bother.

May 8, 2013, 11:31 PM [ in reply to Well...in previous congressional testimony, it was said.... ]

This story may have legs of some sort, but they're undermined by blatant, incessant Republican opportunism.

From what I can tell, the worst case scenario is the Obama admin tried to downplay a tragedy that met the necessary criteria to be dubbed "terrorism" during an election cycle. Conservatives made that point on 9/12/2012. Everything since then has been

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Considering the testemony is from career diplomats....

May 8, 2013, 11:47 PM

I think it deserves a certain weight.

The point here is that there is more to learn and, in my opinion, the hearings are justified. I think there is a good bit more to this story than we've seen so far.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's always more to the story.

I actually DID watch it.

May 8, 2013, 11:03 PM [ in reply to NO way you watched it.... ]

As biased as Fox was for airing the entire hearing nearly commercial-free, it's equally ###### up that the other cable news channels didn't even acknowledge it.

That said, if there are no criminal allegations, then it's just theatrics and Republicans are shamelessly exploiting an American tragedy for political ends.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You know what sux?

How is it that you figure airing a hearing unedited is....

May 8, 2013, 11:52 PM [ in reply to I actually DID watch it. ]

biased?

And if you did watch it on FNC, you would know that it wasn't nearly commercial-free at all and they kept apologizing for having to break away. They took all normal commercial breaks. Now that I think about it...you sure you watched it?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It was biased because it's GOP catnip.

May 9, 2013, 12:15 AM

And yeah, they did take commercial breaks occasionally. At one point they apologized for their commercial timing because it allowed one side more time than the other.
