Bye bye Brownell

Nov 12, 2022, 12:00 AM

Neff needs to let him go at the end of the season. Brownell has hit his peak and it’s clear we won’t be improving under him. It’s time for some new blood in the program.

I think Neff has pretty much made that known to Brownell.

Well, Neff made it clear that he expects quick results from Brownell. At the same time, he also backed up his support by providing Brownell with more support (financial & otherwise) that closed the gap with other ACC programs that has persisted for quite some time! You may be correct that Neff needs to let Brownell go at the end of this season, if he doesn't quickly provide significant improvement in the program and in the number of wins we attain this year.

However, I'd prefer to wait for the results of Brownwell's attempts to finally improve our program this year before saying "Bye bye Brownell"-- given that he now has been given the type of AD support & motivation he's needed for his entire Clemson employment! At the same time, Neff has made it clear that Brownell won't be given continued support/employment unless Brownell shows significant improvement in results this year. Brownell has numerous challenges this year. He has several new players (both transfers & freshman) that he needs to integrate quickly and smoothly with our returning veterans. Additionally, our best player (PJ Hall) has been recovering from two injuries he has dealt with for several months. These injuries have prevented him from practicing fully with the veterans, as well as our new transfers and freshmen--not only in pre-season practice, but also in the great opportunity of practicing and playing against European competition this Summer before pre-season practice even began.

I look forward to seeing if Brownell can finally turn the corner in Clemson's Basketball program. And if Brownell fails, I also look forward to seeing our AD search for (& welcome) a new & highly motivated replacement. Go Tigers!!!

Nothing will change. People who actually follow basketball and have history in playing the sport can tell you Brad has hit his peak. If a first year coach can come in with freshmen and all new players and whoop your butt then it’s clear there are problems. For example explain why your best shooter is on the bench in the final stretch. Hemenway. I watched Galloway air ball twice and he’s just not a good shooter. These are things I can’t wrap my head around
