For those of you who live in SC, is online sports betting illegal? I know gambling and casinos are illegal in the state, but I have heard from a few people that there are no laws that specifically cite online betting. For anyone with more clarity on the matter please give me some insight.

That's a shame. Reckon it's not going to change anytime soon.

There's rumors that some in the state are wanting to turn Myrtle Beach

into Biloxi. I'd be all for it if it meant tearing down all those 80 year old dumpster motels that line Ocean Blvd and replace them with mega resorts.

Interesting. Wonder if they'd actually be able to pull something like that off if they really wanted to do that.

It’s not a shame. It’s a good thing. Betters rarely win. Statistically the house makes all the money. I’ve never heard of a casino or bookie losing his house from chasing bad beats and bets. I have seen families broken and hungry because Daddy bet his whole paycheck in a poker machine or at the card table or slot machines. Less than 1% of gamblers come out with a profit.
If you want to bet, find a friend and bet them dinner on a game of your choice. Everyone wins in that situation. Good times spent with good people.
Or play fantasy football with a group of friends. Buy a trophy and let the winner keep it the entire season. Have a live draft party at your house and present the trophy to last years winner. It makes the games and scoring more exciting without draining a bank account.
Join the donors pick 6 weekly pick ‘em contest. Costs you nothing yet gives you the added excitement gambling must bring.
I still don’t see the upside to gambling. I used to do company pools. I won twice (maybe $300) but probably spent more than I won. What’s the point?!
I don’t even do the lottery. You have a statistical better chance of being struck by lightning twice than winning the lottery. It’s just throwing your money away.
That’s what makes America great. Different strokes for different folks and all that. Do what makes you happy. I don’t see the appeal of making these Uber rich people richer.

I guess most people don’t know how to explain.
Betting money lines is illegal in South Carolina.
Like betting for Clemson to cover the 14.5 point spread. That needs to be done through a “bookie” in SC. Which is illegal.
There is prop betting that is legal in SC though.
Apps like Underdog and PrizePicks are prop betting.
In prop betting, you bet on players and their individual stats.
An example of a bet you would place on one of the apps would go as follows:
1) Cade Klubnik over 250 passing yards
2) Phil Mafah over 100 rushing yards
3) DJ Uigalfneozne under 150 passing yards
All 3 players apart of one bet. Minimum $5 entry most of the time.
You can do what is called a “standard” entry and hope all players in your parlay hit.
Or you can do a “flex” entry. Say you made a 3-player bet like mine. If you do flex entry, you only need 2 out of 3 to hit for you to make money.
But in a flex entry, if you get all correct picks, the payout wouldn’t be as much for getting all correct picks in a standard entry.
Kind of a brain pretzel
All three players have projected stats. Like Cade Klubnik for 250 passing yards. You’d pick higher or lower.
Those apps do prop betting for all sports as well.

Prop betting in general isn't legal. Fantasy sports is legal. Those apps call themselves fantasy sports. I don't see how parlaying prop bets is fantasy sports, but they get around the law somehow, for now.

Well it’s prop bets.
There’s also so many different ways to bet on those “fantasy” apps.
Underdog has a “Rivals” feature of prop betting.
You have 2 players. Say Deshaun Watson vs Lamar Jackson for rushing yards. You don’t get to choose 2 players for a rivals bet, there are several premade 2 player entry options like in the picture.
There’s no line to it. You pick who you think will have more rushing yards.
But since Lamar Jackson is way more likely to have a good rushing yards game every time he plays, Deshaun would be given say about 10 rushing yards as a “head start”.
It’s still pretty tough
