Hypothetically, If LSU Loses to TA&M, Then Beats UGA

Nov 23, 2022, 10:24 AM

in the SECCG, does a 3 loss SEC Champion make the CFP or does a 1 loss UGA runner-up make the CFP over the Conference Champion or do both LSU and UGA make the CFP even though LSU has 3 losses?

I have no idea how the committee would handle it. My guess would be LSU and UGA would be in.

Man if they put a 3 loss team in the playoffs there will be holy xxxx raised. Don’t care what conference championship they win.

No the would not. It's doubtful LSU gets in even if they win out.

Yea I’m not sure on a 2 loss LSU SEC champ. The FSU loss seems to be water under the bridge it being the first game. 3 spots are guaranteed if they win out. Then you have the question of what happens with the Mich/OSU loser. Figure they legitimately still have a shot.

The SEC champion will be in - period. You know good and well

Nov 23, 2022, 10:47 AM

there is no way the committee would keep UGA out with one loss, even though they should if they don't win their conference.

Even a 3 loss LSU team? They won’t lose to A&M anyways. So the 3 losses is a moot point imo and they will fall back after a loss to Ga.

Yes, if LSU wins the SEC championship game, they are in

Nov 23, 2022, 11:02 AM

no matter what. Absolutely, 100%, no question whatsoever, done deal, case closed, etc., etc. ...

I feel 100% the other way. No way a three loss team

Nov 23, 2022, 3:36 PM

that just lost to Texas A&M gets in.

I’d say UGA is still in in that scenario.

I disagree. I think we get the 2016 Penn St - OSU

Nov 24, 2022, 9:23 AM [ in reply to Yes, if LSU wins the SEC championship game, they are in ]

situation.

10-3 LSU is not getting into the playoff, but 12-1 Georgia is.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

thats the big issue

Nov 23, 2022, 10:49 AM

the espn nut hugging media has convinced everyone that an sec champ should get an automatic bid..while other conferences that isnt a given..when one conference is allotted mulligans for all of their teams while others have to go undefeated there is an issue.

The SEC seems to have lots of trouble this year with everyone but the ESPNsecers and a few other of the faithful...Can you count on Alabama anymore? Jawja has played like the 'ladies home journal team' for most of the game a couple of times this year but of course no SEC team has ever had a bad quarter or bad half of play...who gives a ### if LSU lost to FSU in the first game...we lost to Jawja 1st game last year and SEC never shup up about it...even though they forgot to mention that the toothless dogs scored no offensive touchdowns! Does the Clemson faithful see where a quality QB would have made a world of difference last year...if we'd even had one good transfer like Texas or Chicken**it or even one of the MIsses, CCC would have won the Natty!

All conference champions should get an automtic bid,

Nov 23, 2022, 11:04 AM [ in reply to thats the big issue ]

while all who do not win their conferences should automatically be excluded. That would be in a more perfect world, where everything is done the right way, but we are not there yet.

Re: All conference champions should get an automtic bid,

Nov 23, 2022, 11:11 AM

So you think 2021 Pitt , ACC champion, 11-3, with regular season loses to Western Michigan and Miami and a Peach Bowl loss to Michigan State should have gotten an auto bid to the CFP?

2024 orange level membermilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

why not

Nov 23, 2022, 11:31 AM

they are lobbying for an lsu team who lost at home by 27 to tennessee and lost to fsu should get an automatic bid

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Of course. Playoffs and championships should reward

Nov 23, 2022, 12:20 PM [ in reply to Re: All conference champions should get an automtic bid, ]

winning at the right time and goal achievement, in this case, winning conference championships, above all else. Otherwise, we have a beauty contest, where we pretend that we can somehow know which team is "best", which of course, is a fantasy based on subjective criteria which is unavoidably biased.

It would make for some good comedy on ESPN, and would dwarf what is going on right now on that joke of a network.

Re: Hypothetically, If LSU Loses to TA&M, Then Beats UGA

A loss to A&M would drop LSU too far in the rankings. I don't think beating UGA and being a conference champ would get them back in the top 4.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NO a 3-Loss LSU would be out and UGAY IN***

If UGA beats GT they are in the CFP

Nov 23, 2022, 1:34 PM

Even if they lose to LSU, I can't see them getting left out.

Re: Hypothetically, If LSU Loses to TA&M, Then Beats UGA

No way they make it in. They lose to TAMU and they drop to 13ish.

Re: Hypothetically, If LSU Loses to TA&M, Then Beats UGA

No. While winning the conference is definitely a plus, the W-L record is far and away the first measure.

I LSU loses to A & M and still gets in the CFP, I may have to resign my membership.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

IF LSU loses to TAM, they would drop out of the top 10...

Nov 23, 2022, 10:59 PM

no way would they make the playoff. As much help as the committee gives the SEC, even they aren't that stupid!

Re: Hypothetically, If LSU Loses to TA&M, Then Beats UGA

Both get in.

LSU gets in because they have the best two wins in beating GA and Bama.

Georgia gets in because they have the best loss--to a team that beat them.

Simple logic.
